Just wanted to give an update on whats going on at the aquarium. I went in the evening on a tuesday, not very busy.

No guns, knives, etc. signs posted, and I was asked if I had any knives or lighters on me. I was asked to raise my arms and my waist was wanded. Quick process, aquarium was cool, will return when they remove no guns policy.

Hope this helps someone.

Two words, then: ankle holster.
We went the other day and they never once checked my ankle with the wand, they did a quick look into my wife's baby bag but didn't stick their hands in nor tried to find anything.

Their food prices are stupid expensive, their 12oz coke is 4 bucks

The shows was great, but don't buy anything extra (toys, shirts, food, drinks, etc)

They do have water fountains (free)

Police are outside and couple inside but nothing crazy.

It was packed and people showed their true colors about respect from going into a show and sitting down and leaving the show.People that came in late sits in the back, and when it's time to leave they felt it was their duty to leave first!!!

I had to speak my peace a few times,as some tried to run us over or push us and my kids out of the way.Me being 6'3 260lbs they didn't get to far and their feelings seems to have gotten hurt a few times.

People needs to learn respect for others, and I know everyone knows how to get off a school bus, I sure do remember (people on the back are last).

Had a great time with my kids and wife for sure.

I liked Chattanooga's better anyway. And I don't remember ANY no gun rules.
The Chattanooga Aquarium is indeed posted and since it is in Tennessee, it is more than a rule...it is the law (signs hold weight).
And you have to traverse a city park to enter, which is off limits AND posted.

The last time I was there (which I admit was some time ago), the aquarium had a basic "no weapons allowed" sign, which did not meet the Tennessee statute, but since the park around it is off limits, it makes the aquarium a moot point, unless you teleport there.

Some of the rudest people there. People will literally step in front of you when you are looking at something

Since when does a city have the right to Pre-empt state law with their little park?

Tennessee law allows cities to decided for themselves about parks that they govern, and the law specifically left in place ordinances before that were law before 1983. Tennessee needs true pre-emption (like Georgia) to overcome the petty dictators that think they know better than their citizens.

East Ridge, TN has a very large park with jogging trails through the woods. One of my co-workers, who is a resident of the city and is licensed to carry, once brought up the issue with the council. She said that basically they acted like she would just hurt herself with a gun, dismissed her worries about jogging in the park, and suggested pepper spray. The city has no issues with a large gun show that takes place in the arena in the center of the park each year, just with people who might actually need to protect themselves effectively.

At the Georgia Aquarium, my wife took my daughter and they wanded everyone with a metal detector and they searched through all the women's purses. I'm glad I wasn't there, because I normally carry everywhere I go.
