Sort of an "It Happened to Me" post over on GT. Kansas is shall issue now.

Okay, there I was at a 24 hour grocery getting some things for the wife who was sick andmiserable (hey, I try to be a good guy SOMEtime ) As I'm leaving, I notice a rather questionable looking guy making a bee-line towards me. As he's about 40' away, he pulls a knife and says to give him $20 for gas...(riiiight!).

Now since KS is now a shall issue state and I have decided to take a more active role in mine and my families defense, I by sheer coincidence have a G-19 on me. Since I am armed, I proceed to reach back for said concealed weapon.

Moron stops dead in his tracks, slowly puts the knife back in his jacket, starts backing up and says "Holy F* you're one of them!" then takes off around the building.

Cops called but no one found. PD didn't ask me anything about my permit or that I was carrying, just that they have had a few calls about this guy for the past few weeks.

I still loved that though "You're one of them"

Okay, not a story-happened a few nights ago I guess now John Lott can make it 2,500,001 times per year that a concealed weapon is used in self defense without firing a shot.

To bad the guy didn't keep coming to him and he could have got that POS off this earth. Maybe that will scare him enough to get a job and get his own money.( i doubt it though)

It would be sad to hear that the scumbag killed someone during a robbery at a later date. Too bad the problem couldn't have been taken care of right then.

I smell BS too. No BG is going to pull a knife out at 40 feet and walk over to you. He is going to draw it at the last second in close after he has distracted you with a question like "What time is it?" or "Do you know the way to San Jose?" It will be even easier for him if you are in Condition White. You won't have enough time to draw and fire before he has slashed you up pretty good. I used to laugh and say never bring a knife to a gunfight....but with speed and surprise you can be killed before you have a chance.
