http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/08/1...ation-exercise-at-florida-police-academy.htmlA woman was accidentally shot and killed Tuesday during a demonstration at a police academy in Florida, authorities said.
Punta Gorda police Chief Tom Lewis called the shooting an accident and said it occurred during a “shoot or don’t shoot†scenario in which authorities use simulated lethal force in a live scenario
the levels of negligence and incompetence required here surprises even me. i wonder if it's not the whole mindset of the rules not applying to them bleeding over into other aspects of their lives. first they can ignore criminal law when it comes to themselves; now it's the rules of gun safety...i wonder if next they will try to ignore the law of gravity. How in the world do they allow live ammo in simulation exercises?
Is it because the Punta Gorda Police are the only ones "professional enough" to do so?
If this is how they train, it explains a lot.........Article says she was shot "multiple times". Crazy.
Maybe she did not stop being a threat.Article says she was shot "multiple times". Crazy.
Looking at the photo of that police officer I have to ask - do departments routinely test for steroid abuse? Seriously, roid rage and judgement impairment are not urban myths for steroid abuse. This is the cop who shot her according to this article. He's a bad apple.http://photographyisnotacrime.com/2016/08/10/punta-gorda-cop-killed-woman-long-history-abuse/
In the linked article about the thug, I mean officer, the video of his dog mauling the bicyclist was hard to watch. I guess it makes his story more plausible the more he says to stop resisting while your dog is using the guy as a chew toy. This is the cop who shot her according to this article. Stopped him for not having lights on his bicycle! Holy cow!In the linked article about the thug, I mean officer, the video of his dog mauling the bicyclist was hard to watch. I guess it makes his story more plausible the more he says to stop resisting while your dog is using the guy as a chew toy.

Instead of being allowed to resign which just affords them the opportunity to get picked up by another department, cops like this should lose their certification permanently and go find another line of work. The administrator who rehires them should also be fired for extremely careless judgement.Coel was hired by the Punta Gorda Police Department in 2014 after he was allowed to resign from the Miramar Police Department in South Florida for excessive force.
:rotfl:It's cops like him that increase the ice cream budget.
