I have one of those (the lighter). It's really old. When my dad was alive he told me that he pulled the pin on it when he was around 5 years old at my great grandmother's house by accident before he left. He cried the entire way back because he thought he blew up the house.

So we have no idea if that woman bought a live grenade or not? Or maybe a deactivated grenade or training grenade?
Or maybe it had been an inert training grenade that somebody had partially restored or made an IED out of?
The news article doesn't say.
And apparently standard operating procedure for LEO types is to not examine it, just send in the bomb squad with the robots to snag it, bag it, and then they blow it up immediately.
