And most likely a domestic violence conviction.

The ex-boyfriend wouldn't get a "domestic violence conviction" for beating up the then-current boyfriend.
Unless Mr. Jackson had once lived with Mr. Altes and cohabitated together, or raised children together, etc.

    Usually.
I've known a few females that if you didn't fight back they'd beat you to death. :shattered:

Mr Jackson appears to be ambidextrous from the looks of that beating.

I agree, sometimes judges get it right, sometimes they don't, but this is a case of a judge getting it right. He must still maintain the law, and punish someone who assaults another, but at the same time, he looked at the totality of the circumstances and realized that there was a degree of street justice in this case. I like it. :D :righton:

A few months ago TMZ had video of ex-UFC star Roger Huerta witnessing a big black guy in a yellow shirt sucker-punch a woman and knock her out on the street in front of a nightclub.

When Huerta came forward to yell at him for doing that, the big dude ripped off his shirt and got ready to give this short Hispanic dude some of the same.

But right around the time Roger took his shirt off and the other guy saw the big distinctive tattoos, plus all the muscles on that professional fighter, and people in the crowd yelling "Roger!".... maybe the big woman-beater's mind started working about how to NOT get some street justice served to him.

He ran. But too late. Roger Huerta got on him and beat him senseless in about 3 seconds. Even though the big guy probably outweighed Roger by 80 lbs.

Did Huerta get charged with assault for that?

Obviously, tracking someone down and beating them is assault, but when you are in proximity/immediately near the situation does it change a bit?

I'd find it hard to imagine that the guy in the video I linked to would get charged with assault, as the two guys attacked his girlfriend right there. Sounds more like "defense" to me. The Huerta situation seems a bit more vague.

in the video you posted, did two guys attack the woman?
I saw one guy hit the woman while he was talking to the other guy.
The other guy didn't make any attempt to hit the woman or attack the man. He only raised his fists when the angry boxer in the track suit came at him.

RELATED QUESTION: If the guy in the multi-colored jacket, back to camera, had stuck a knife in the girlfriend instead of backhanding her in the face, could an armed citizen witnessing this shoot down both of the men?
Or just the one with the knife?

I think just the guy with the knife.
