I am a new member to this site, but I ahve been reading the threads for several weeks. There seems to be a strong concenses that there are a few laws that need to be changed, ie carrying at public gatherings, places that sell more food than alcohol, and a few others. This site along with several others seems to have a singificant number of members to begin the process to make these changes. What is the hold up??? Is it organization??? Money???

Dan,
Things are being done. Go to www.georgiacarry.org and see what the members here have been doing. Then click the Join link for GCO and NRA at the bottom of this page and join in the fight!

By the way, Welcome aboard!

Hey Dan4010, welcome to the site.

To echo what USMC - Retired said, there is action being taken. Georgia Carry has accomplished much in its short time. As for legislative matters...GCO was instrumental in getting HB 89 pushed through the House.

I can tell that you are eager to see things changed...probably the best way to do that is to join GCO. Also, contact your legislators and tell them of your support for pro-gun bills. Specifically, you can contact the Lt. Gov. and ask that SB 43 and HB 89 not be combined into the same bill. Another method is to submit letters to the editor to local and more widely distributed newspapers (the AJC comes to mind).
People's time and effort are paramount if we want to change the laws we feel are unjust.

On a side note, I live in Johns Creek (when not at school). Did they actually get around to changing the name?

Tahnks for the Welcomes

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am very interested in being active in changing the laws. I feel strongly that it is in the best interest of the community and I also feel strongly that the current laws could result in a good law abiding citizen being arrested for an innocent mistake. I am already a member of Georgia Carry.org, but not of the NRA at this point. I will be happy to participate at what ever level I can within this or other organizations to work toward changinh these laws. Please just let me know when I can help.

Again thanks for the welcome I and look ofrward to becoming more involved.

Welcome Dan4010.

As to why the laws are the way they are, go to the GeorgiaCarry.org site and start reading the 'History of Georgia's Carry Laws'. Much of the same information will apply to why they are so hard to change.

If you do decide to join the NRA, you can use the link at the bottom of this website so that the appropriate people can get credit for it.
And it is cheaper, $25 instead of $35
Thanks for the assist guys! Can't stress enough how important it is that we get as many folks as possible as members of both great gun owners groups!

When I renew, I'll be sure to use that link. Last time I renewed, I wasn't a member of this site just yet.

Hey Dan! Welcome aboard. I live about 5 miles from Johns Creek just off McGinnis Ferry and Peachtree Industrial. The fiance and I go over there for coffee a bunch.

This site and GCO have been very active and have received results. I am looking forward to the changes over the next few years as our numbers grow.

Thank you for the Welcome Sharky, I live near State Bridge and Jones Bridge.. My office is in Duluth. We spend a fair amount of time at American Classic shooting. My fiance and I spend most of our weekends on our lease down near Manchester Ga (2800 acres) or on the boat in the summer time. Plus, we travel to Florida about once every other month. Just for a note, she has a Beretta 380 next to her side of the bed, I have a Tauraus PT Pro 40cal next to my bed and I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II Covert with Crimson Trace Grips from the Kimber Custon shop.

:welcome: Dan. You won't find a more dedicated bunch of people anywhere than right here. We dearly care about changing the laws that you mentioned and others. I can only echo what the other members have said and again welcome aboard.
