the street signs in your town?

http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/arti ... /310029974

The Federal Highway Administration has ordered municipalities to change the lettering on their street signs. Street signs bearing names in all capital letters will have to be changed to use both uppercase and lowercase letters. So STATE ST will become State St. It will be Main St instead of MAIN ST.

Though for different reasons, this is hardly new.

The roll-out of E911 service nation-wide mandated the naming (and often renaming), numbering (and often renumbering) and hence remapping and signing of many, many roadways and structural locations in the nation so emergency responders could find them. What was good enough for the USPS just wasn't good enough for emergency services, apparently.

No small (or inexpensive) feat.

There was another thread here about stupid, well this one takes the stupid cake. Spending money on more junk we DON"T need. What a wonderful federal government we have.

For that past 100 years they've been regulating anything they want, and we have sat back and allowed it. Hopefully, things are soon to change.

So what are they going to do to municipalities that don't comply? Send out the FBI or withhold federal funding?

When you suckle at their teat, they are your mama...anything that receives fed money, education, highways etc, they can't wait to regulate.

This kind of nonsense is one reason why the tea party's anti-government tirade resonates with voters.
:?

Tirade? It is funny that this article comes out of nanny-state New York, in a highly democratic region/town, with an obvious disdain for the subject matter, and yet still manages to throw poo at the tea-party. Enjoy your taxes, over-regulation, and willingness to take it in the :censored:.

:exactly: I'm not exactly sure wtf renaming the signs to consist of a Cap leter and rest lower case will do to help anyone or anything thing. If you cant find the @#[email protected]#[email protected] road in all caps you sure the @#[email protected]#$ wont find it in a different format. Just a waste of tax payer money to keep bored, useless federal employees in jobs. This is a huge part of Obamas plan to keep FEDERAL employees in jobs, not the common citizen.. You guys must've mised that part of the Job Creation Plan. The job creation plan was to help the government, not the citizens... Called smoke and mirrors, learn how it works before we end up taking it up the rear for the rest of our lives..

It's not about finding the street. It's literally so the driver looks at the sign for a fraction less of time.
