What an objective piece of writing  .

I'm glad the Federal Judge did what was right :righton: .

It was Perdue who, this spring, vetoed a bill that would have explicitly given those who hold concealed-weapons permits the right to carry their firearms in unsecured areas of the terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
I guess this writer doesn't know that Georgia doesn't issue a "concealed weapons permit" I wonder what his shock factor would be if he found out some of use are going around carrying dangerous weapons in a fully exposed manner.

No matter how you slice it, the two softest targets in Georgia are schools and churches.

I think church carry is more likely than campus, but I can see both happening this year.

Sucks we have to do it one small step at a time rather than just passing a bill that says you can carry anywhere you're legally allowed to be.

I guess we didn't lose our rights all at once and we wont get them back all at once, either.

i dont think that college carry is unlikely...just need a defendant that lives in the dorm on campus...well guess whats banned gun in his place of residence...not constitutional

My comment:

I recently gave a second amendment presentation, on behalf of GeorgiaCarry.org, to an assembly of Apostolic men in east Georgia. The consensus amongst them was that they objected to the state telling them what they could and couldn’t do. They resent state control of their Second Amendment rights. It’s as simple as that. Churches, Synagogues, et. al., are vulnerable, and people want to be able to protect themselves. Relent, or lose parishioners! …………………………er, money?

:righton: We'll get them back, bit by bit... just as we lost them. It just takes time, persistence, patience, fortitude, and gall. We'll do it, soon enough. It also doesn't hurt that GFL holders in the past have historically been a very law-abiding bunch.

A new eight-member Committee on Assignments, packed with senators tired of coming in behind Texas when it comes to firearms liberation, is now in charge â€" and certain to speed new legislation along.
If I'm not mistaken, it's illegal to open carry in Texas.... I really don't think we're "behind" Texas...

Yeah, and their CC license is very expensive and requires mandatory training. You are correct about OC, its illegal even with a CC permit. Some signs hold legal weight there. They didn't even get CC until the mid-1990s.

I think GA is already ahead of TX at this point.

Remember the "Are We Crazy" article from last year, well she has crosslinked the Galloway piece to her school blog.

Full court press from the AJC coming up.

I put in my 2 cents worth, as well, regarding church shootings (some yahoo said the only church shooting he'd ever heard of was when a King family member was killed in one)

More from Galloway...
That has become less so since the Republican takeover. Some of the most divisive social measures of the past few years â€" on immigration, abortion, stem cell research, voter ID and firearm possession â€" have had their speedy births in the Senate.

Politicians elected statewide, including the lieutenant governor, often prefer their legislation without sharp edges â€" and to that extent, Cagle has occasionally served as a brake. But no longer. The Republican senators now in charge hail from districts that are thoroughly populated with GOP voters. Subtlety is no longer required.
