Very good advice that will be ignored by most everyone because saying "I don't answer questions" over and over again to the cop seems impolite to most suspects, and most suspects would rather go to jail than be impolite.
“Can I resist?â€
No you cannot. The cops can stop you for a reasonable amount of time to conduct a brief investigation to determine if a crime has occurred or is about to occur, generally referred to as a Terry Stop. If they detain you longer or arrest you “for nothing,†don’t resist, ever. Doing so risks your health and safety. The time to resist is later in court after you obtain legal representation.
During a traffic stop, can being silent get you a bigger ticket? Yes. Can being compliant sometimes earn a little goodwill? Perhaps but 90% of the time, a cop has already decided, before he pulled you over, if you were going to get a ticket or not.
