We adopted a puppy that was basically abandoned with the rest of his litter in front of Lane Packing in Fort Valley. There were only two little guys left, and somebody took the other one (we didn't want to take just one and leave the other poor little guy alone).

The people at Lane said the folks that abandoned them said they were about 4 weeks old, and part Springer Spaniel. Now, there's no way he's only 4 weeks old, as he's eating normal food, and he's too big to be that young. I'm thinking about 6 weeks old. I'm really curious as to about how big he's gonna get.

Size could range from about that of a Siberian Husky to a Collie. Depending on what the other dog was. YMMV

I'm thinking (based on his paws, head, and tail) anywhere from 35-65 pounds. About the size of our rescue dog.

When he cries, he howls/bays like a hound. I'm thinking that, along with the coloring, implies some hound blood.

Doesn't really matter what he is, because he's a cutie, and a sweet little puppy, but we're trying to figure out what kind and don't want to spend the $500 for the DNA test.

Our vet told us those test were incredibly unreliable. We thought about getting one when we got our Gus (Border Collie Lab mix) because we weren't sure the Humane Society really knew what he was. Now that he has grown up it's clear that he's a Border Collie and Lab.

You will be able to tell better once this little guy grows up some more (maybe). On the other hand, he could be a 3rd generation mutt w/ so many different things mixed in you'll never know for sure but that's ok too.

So, what's his name? Looks like a "Buster" to me. :righton:

Coat looks Aussie. Wild guess, as I am used to seeing dogs in show-stack pics. :roll:

Paw size is a good estimator of potential adult size. Coat quality and patterning should also give you good inidcators as to breed.

I am around spaniels all the time - all types. I am having trouble seeing Eng. Springer in him: color, pattern, ears all off. Hound - you seem to be onto something there already.

In the end, if you plan to keep him, it just doesn't matter. You have dogs, so just socialize him to everything, take him everywhere, and I think you will have a very satisfactory pup.

By the facial markings it appears two eggs merged in the womb and he's a "chimera"-like dog, similar to a tortoise-shelled cat.

His name is Jameson, and he is a little buster.

Yes, like the whiskey. We also have a girl (rescue) named Bailey, like the Irish cream. What can I say? I like my booze, and I thought "The Glenlivet" or "Macallan" was too much of a mouthful.

My girlfriend and I were joking that if we get too many more, we're gonna have to start naming them Bacardi, Beefeater, and Grey Goose...
