I try not to get close enough to find out. But when I was fingerprinted recently for my Utah Firearms License at Emory University PD, the fingerprinter was carrying a 1911-type pistol. I did not seek out the make.

I talked to a couple of Kennesaw cops a few weekends ago.

They had Kimber .45's! I asked which model and they didn't know (of course). They knew it was an 1100 dollar pistol though. They had "special" 8 round mags. They gave me this info after they saw me staring at their pistols. I think they were bragging. I'm a little sarcastic because they should know more their weapons a little better than the impression I got. They also mentioned that they don't jam "that much" at the range... I'm a Kimber owner and I was

Special 8 round mags?! Like the ones I can grab at any gun store? :)

Hey, if it strokes their ego and make them think they are big boys...why not. lol

With over 70% of the U.S. LE market in Glocks, it is a pretty safe bet that is what you will see. Most are in .40SW models, but there are some exceptions. To save time I'll list the stuff in the state that I know is something other than a Glock in .40SW.

GSP is in the .45GAP across the board.

Athens-Clarke County issues the G22 w/NY1 spring as standard, but there are still some S&Ws in service, and they have a list of approved alternate weapons.

UGA issues S&W 4006s but is in the process of a switch to G22s.

    Winterville is G17C, IIRC.

    Monroe is M&P .40

    Walton County is S&W 5906TSW

Atlanta is 4003TSW but is testing for a switch now

DeKalb County PD was in Beretta 92s the last I saw

Gwinnett County PD was in S&Ws the last I saw (GCSO issues Glocks)

Chatham County was G19 a few years ago, but I don't know if there was any change when they merged PDs.

Putnam County and Eatonton both allow for officer choice

White County did issue Beretta 92s years ago, but I think they have switched to Glock now.

Warner Robbins allows various, but the SRT is required to carry a Glock in 9mm.

I can't reveal the name of the agency, but I know of one other in state that is going GAP.

I am not LE, but this is what I CCW 95% of the time. :) When clothing permits.

I know it is a large gun to conceal but I love the weight of it, the way it shoots and the 20 round mags :shoot: . It is a potent round dispite what many will tell you.

If I were LE I would love to carry it, as to many, especially with the Armor Piercing round (illeagle for non LEO :handcuffs: .)
I know a retired state trooper (NM), and former spec ops guy, who turned me on to these.

I am probably the lone FN FiveseveN fan here, but different strokes...

I've been wanting to get one for a while, but they are expensive, and so is ammo. Pretty much the only way to get ammo is from people who stocked up before they stopped importing it. But I would consider getting one if the price was right.

You are right the gun isn't cheap, but atleast to me it was worth it. With upcoming elections I personally don't hold much hope of fending off another Brady bill, and they already call the FiveseveN "the cop killer" gun. :bsflag:

The ammo is sometimes hard to find and a bit pricy, but it is not much more than .45acp ammo.
Bass pro Shop usually sells it for about $17/box, and it is easy to find @ $20/box. If you pay close attention to Bass Pro shop mailers they often times mark the ammo to $14.99 a box.

It is pricy for target practice but it is kind of like using defense ammo for practice. If you consider it as defense ammo it is actually cheaper then my Hydroshocks. :)

Slabertooth, have you shot one yet? They are sweet, almost no recoil.

Let me know if you ever get one.

Not yet, I was at a local store and was inquiring about one. They guy who owned it said they don't sell them to people they don't know. "Those things are cop killers" is what he said. Claimed that they had shot through a vest with them to see if they would penetrate. Then changed his story when I informed him that those rounds were illegal for civilians to purchase. And then he proceeded to call another shop for me to see if they had one available, of course they did and they wanted $980 for it, and two magazines.

I'm no expert but this guy was an idiot, and I wasn't about to give him any of my money. Sad thing too, I frequent that place several times a month to use the range, but the people who work there really don't care about anything, and know even less.

:bsflag: :^o ](*,) They have been listening to Shcumer and the Brady Bunch. They released some supposed video where a "LEO" did a test with "civilian" rounds and it supposedly penetrated a level 2 vest. I have not seen the video but it is rigged apparently.

Heck even the BATF released a letter stating that the round is not armor piercing! :soapbox:

This is a twist for a gun store usually some idiot trys to pressure you into buying it because "FN agreed to stop selling to the US" or some similar rumor. Don't believe this either, it is all lies.

$980 That is way too much.
Last year I got mine from http://www.gunbroker.com for about $825 after shipping, FFL transfer, and it came with 50box of the discontinued SS192 JHPs that are expensive to get.

You can usually find them for about $800 - $850 easily sometimes cheaper, and they come with 3 20 round mags I have heard of some jerk dealers who take 1 out and sell it to you for extra.
You are correct the guy is an idiot. I have found that I no longer ask most salemen anything, I usually do the research now ahead of time then go shopping for price. I really like www.gunbroker.com and have bought the FN FiveseveN, and my XD45ACP and have been very pleased with the transactions.

    Good luck!

I'm not one to point fingers but...

Needless to say I am waiting for American Outdoor Adventures to open a range, and they will be getting my money from now on. Not only are they priced reasonably, the staff is friendly, and they have a bigger selection.

Yeah that's why when he said $980, I said I'd think about it. Haven't been back since. I have been hitting up both auctionarms and gunbroker looking, but right now the funds just aren't there, but I will get one sooner than later.
