Got out to the range to test the 440 grain (actual weight with lube and gas check is 450)
They did ok. No leading and seemed to go where I pointed them. I shot it 40 times. The groups tightened up as charge weight of h110 went up. I think 36.5- 37.0 is where I need to be with this bullet and H110. Cases were getting sticky above that and accuracy didn’t improve.
All shot at 50 yards except the last 5 which I shot at 100

A little improvement over iron sights using a 4moa ultra dot but not as much as expected.

I trimmed about 100 .500 S&w cases. I noticed some inconsistent crimps on a few rounds. I had to buy a new cutter and bearing for the cutter because the the one I had was too small.
Trimming is probably my least favorite reloading related thing.

I hate trimming myself, but I rarely trim, revolver cases. That’s dedication! I always get a blister in my palm from turning my ancient Lyman case trimmer.

Spend some of the money you are saving on reloading and get a new electric one. Keep the old one for dark times.

Aren’t those meant to be fully encased inside the cartridge case, and then crimped over the final leading edge? I believe that sound of that bullet was meant to be.

That is one way to do it but I see no written rule saying it must be. I wondered that myself. The Lee manual has two oal lengths. One is flush and the other like this. The only rule for flush is if it’s being fired from a semi gun designed to fire them. That’s what I took away from my readings at the castboolit site.

Anyone ever reload 7.5 Swiss?
Dies are inexpensive.
I have a K31 I took out of the safe and shot over Thanksgiving weekend in Kentucky. Really enjoyed shooting it. Going to put it in the rotation. I have about 400 rounds of gp11, '78 vintage with the wax seal. Maybe 100 gp11 spent brass. Should be fun to try.

Edit
Nope. I dont have berdan tools and I thought I could find them on the cheap. I may look for new brass and revisit this down the road.

I case-prepped 1500 .223/5.56 cases today. My hands are sore!
