Aren’t those meant to be fully encased inside the cartridge case, and then crimped over the final leading edge? I believe that sound of that bullet was meant to be.

I case-prepped 1500 .223/5.56 cases today. My hands are sore!

Today was a low volume day for us. We loaded 40 rounds of 30-40 Krag for him to try in a recently acquired rifle. They are Hornady 150gr soft points. 20 at over 35gr of H335 and 20 are over 36 of H335.
that was my starting load as well. The 35 grain ones did not shoot that well and had a widespread of velocity.

That’s a result of the galvanic corrosion between the primer steel and the brass. When you get water in there from a wet tumbling, that causes that primer to come apart like that.

Well, I didn’t take any photos of what Adam and I reloaded yesterday. We got a little late start, but did 400 .350 legend rounds. With apologies to Adam, here is a photo of my reloading partner…

This defeats the purpose of reloading but the Decatur Walmart had tons of .350 legend on Sunday. Passing it along as that’s an uncommon ITP round.
A box of 20-.350 legend, from behind the counter, is 40 bucks, plus sales tax! That’s serious dosh. We reload them for $.50 each. And we make them how we want them, tailoring them to what we feel the load will be. And we also make some to run through my suppressor.

Indeed, for the last year and a half, the lone boxes of .350 legend were all the Walmarts around here had. Was much hoopla over the round, there are surprising number of people shooting for it now. But I am never one to run factory ammo through my firearms, as reloading’s been in my blood for almost 60 years now.

picked up 1000 9mm nickel brass online, shipped to the door for 4.5¢ ea.
I have an admiration for nickel plated brass, as Adam will attest… and for some reason all the books and internet fanboys say that nickel is hard to reload and hard on your dies. I’ve never found that to be the case, and I’ve been reloading nickel plated brass, in my 50 year old dies, without any problem.

Good grief, I love nickel brass, and a good looking nickel reload. And I prefer them for hunting out West in adverse weather. Come to think of it, I even like them for hunting here in the eastern adverse weather!

How did the powder measure like 700-x?
The powder measure definitely did cut grains. And sometimes it was a bit of a surprise on how much force it took. But it was otherwise easy enough.

Do you use the large barrel or the small barrel for your uniflow?

Well, these are large, flaky powders. And you will cut some grains. But I don’t find it to be too much of a problem with the technique that I use. Slam up. Slam down. Move cartridge. slam up. Slam down.

I used two stools I used throughout my professional career. I started pencil drafting on them in 1982., And even after the switch over to AutoCAD in the late 1980s, I still sat on one at my drawing board to work. I liked the slightly slanted surface.

It is only recently that because of my back and pelvis issues that I needed to go to a more forgiving surface. Adam currently sits on my drafting stool.

And I remember your bemused face when I handed you that hundred and told them they were yours. I knew I had you hooked right then in there.

You also helped with 30-06 loads. And I have a feeling we are Forgetting a couple of calibers as well.

you realize, of course, that last weekend was the first time we had NOT played Jimmy Buffett consistently throughout our afternoon?

Well, Malum… I’ve had some of my .308 since at least 1970, and shot the everloving crap out of them. I have never replaced a barrel. And I “hot-rodded” the stuffings out with my reloads as a young man.
