I know that Match 10 and I aren’t the only reloaders here. We reload on most Saturdays.

Today was a low volume day for us. We loaded 40 rounds of 30-40 Krag for him to try in a recently acquired rifle. They are Hornady 150gr soft points. 20 at over 35gr of H335 and 20 are over 36 of H335.

We also loaded 100 .357 Magnum defensive rounds that are 125gr Hornady XTP over 9.5gr of Power Pistol, and 150 .357 soft target rounds that are 158gr Berry’s flat point over 5.9gr of W244.

Wow those calibers in PRS sound like barrel eaters. The erosion in a .308 is nowhere near that.
I was listening to the Everyday Sniper podcast, and he was talking about barrels and mentioned he used to get 10-12,000 rounds out of his .308 rifles
Well, Malum… I’ve had some of my .308 since at least 1970, and shot the everloving crap out of them. I have never replaced a barrel. And I “hot-rodded” the stuffings out with my reloads as a young man.
They are about as good as anything else out to 600 shooting known distance. When you go past that and distance is unknown, it’s definitely not the best caliber. With all the pre-fit barrels out there, a lot of shipping aggravation is eliminated though for those with the latest whiz bang 6’s. I think you just have to look at it as the cost of owning one of those high performance calibers…. kinda like rear tires on a hell cat VS an accord.
6mm GT is what I went with. I am viewing the barrel as a consumable, probably 2500-3500 rounds.

Today, Mark and I loaded 250 .45 Colt plinking rounds that are a 255gr lead over 5.7gr of 700X to keep my Vaquero fed. We also loaded some .223 rounds for four or two legged varmints. They’re 55gr Ballistic Silver Tips over 26.9gr of BLC2.

I’ve got to get my garage cleaned up. Clearly.
Prepped 450 9mm cases yesterday. Way behind on keeping up with practice. Loading today.

Adam and I started out with breakfast at the Majestic Cafe, and went to the range for group therapy. Quite nice and I’m seriously coveting his Model 17…. 😉

Then, we eventually got to reloading. I ran the primer insertion and he stuffed 50 .45 Colt. Then, we went on a .223/5.56 binge.

I wanted to work up a load with CFE223 for a 5.56 load using heavy-for-caliber Sierra bullet. We did five sets of ten in 1/2 grain increments to full recommend weight. This we used the RCBS digital trickler. So quick and accurate!

Sierra 77 Gr Matchking for me and 68 grain Hornady Match for Adam
I use CFE223 too and like it. I settled on a 69 grain Sierra.

I got a Lee app press delivered today. I decap before loading on the Dillon and doing it one at a time on a single stage is slow and monotonous. This is much much faster. You can size bullets on it too. I need to get set up for 4 tubes at a time. Mounted with just a clamp for now to test.

I read a description, but I do not understand. How does this make it faster?
It has an automatic shell (or bullet) feed versus having to place a shell on the ram with each stroke.
I need to see how that works too. I do some small reloading but don't recognize where the brass goes or the depriming pin is.

Thank you, that helps a lot. Does it work for rifle rounds, too?
