I received my permit in Carroll County, but I will soon be moving to Cobb County. Since I noticed that the issuing county is listed on the permit, I wondered: What is required of me when I take up residence in a new county so that I remain within the state law? :?:

Nothing. The permit is valid for the entire 5 years, even if you move out of state.

I moved from Cherokee County to Cobb (hello neighbor) and called Cobb County about the same issue.

I was told there was no need to change my GFL.

Welcome to Cobb! Where are you? I am in East Cobb near Pope HS

    Hi Curtdiss:

I actually grew up in Cobb--Kennesaw area to be exact. Now I'll be living in Austell, luckily close to HotShots and Outdoor Adventures.

Can you renew from out of state? Consider that one can retain a mailing address in GA, but not a GA drivers license.

Nope, because a mailing address (like a po box) is not a residence. I believe you have to show your GA DL when renewing anyway.
