Want to see a polarized electorate? Take a look at Georgia By David Lightman,dlightman@mcclatchydc.com

WASHINGTON Want to see political polarization, 2016 edition? Consider Georgia.
A new Monmouth University state poll released Monday found Donald Trump up 45-42 percent over Hillary Clinton, a small margin in a state Republicans need badly to win the election.
But the state is split in all kinds of ways. Among them:

it's another example of the effects of centralization, just on a different scale. it's sad that such a small geographic area (atlanta) dictates so much to the rest of the state.

The real key though is turnout. Will black voters turn out for Clinton in the numbers they did for Obama? My guess is no, but Latino voters in places like Arizona and Texas will increase. Will conservatives and Evangelicals show up for Trump like they did for GWB, and not stay home again?

The other question for Georgia is whether uneducated white voters can make up the difference. Atlanta has the lion's share of educated white voters, and Clinton is winning the Atlanta Metropolitan region by 20 pts. but she is losing outside of Atlanta by 18 pts.

I don't think it is going to matter in 2016. Georgia will vote for whomever the GOP puts on their ticket, but in 2020 and 2024 Georgia will be a definite purple state, looking more like Virginia and North Carolina electorally.

White college graduates in Georgia are still a solid majority for Trump, 54 to 31. You have to click the link to the university page to get that info. So there is no major support for Clinton among white educated voters in Georgia. Nice try, though.

Another neat little tidbit from the poll.

Georgia voters take a dim view of both major party candidates. Only 33% have a favorable opinion of Trump while 50% hold an unfavorable view of him. Likewise, only 32% have a favorable opinion of Clinton while 56% hold an unfavorable view of her.
Wow.

Must have confused it with this poll

Educated whites in GA prefer Clinton by +19

The other problem with these polls is that they are polling 75% landlines, which is going to over-represent older voters.

Not so much a problem in GA, but in TX, Trump is polling at 15% with Latinos. Yet polling firms are consistently polling 20% of their respondents are Latino, yet typically make up 38% of TX's electorate. Yet they still only have Trump winning by 6%.

There are Clinton signs and ads up everywhere in every major media market, and not a single one for Trump. I'd love to see someone try to come up with a scenario where Trump wins the presidency while losing Texas.

Keep this in mind also, Clinton is up by 20 pts in California, the entire deep south could go for Trump, and still not make up for the electoral votes of California. Yes Trump has a chance of winning the presidency, just like the Falcons have a chance of winning the Super Bowl this year.

And its only going to get worse from here as Atlanta continues to get bigger and grow, and takes up more of the State of Georgia. Georgia is eventually screwed.

That city will eventually grow in size until the rest of Georgia will not be able to outvote it and Georgia and Atlanta will turn into a Democrat Cesspool like Detroit and many other Democrat strong holds in this country. Its only a matter of time now.

Blacks are incredibly persistent, as Milo said, to "Police their own" and they actually feel they are betraying their race if they vote anything other than Democrat, which is funny, because Democrats are the ones keeping them down and are racist. If a black person dares to stand up and say they are voting libertarian or Republican, they are immediately shut down with horrible pejoratives like Uncle Tom, Race Traitor, and worse and most Black people appear not strong enough to weather that kind of thing from their own race, so they do not speak out if they do feel that way, and many probably do not vote that way because deep inside they do believe they would be betraying their race to vote anything different. It just another form of mental slavery and thought control within that community. Its really terrible that they do that to themselves and that others feel they have no other choice in the matter. Also, some Republicans don't help this out either, but a lot of it is media telling them this and them believing it. Also, the fact that a very few cops have killed black men like they have doesn't help, and allows the media to again create a false narrative and blow things out of proportion. They of course use this to blame the Republicans and "*********** Structure" that they believe exists.

Also, a lot of it is just financial due to welfare and redistribution of wealth.
