The founder has died at age 97.

People talk a lot of crap about WH food, but I turn my nose up at them in defiance. =;

Hashbrown covered and chunked please.

Scattered, covered and smothered for me...

The perfect hangover food. Ending many an evening in a booth, and started almost as many mornings too...
Scattered, smothered, covered, chunked and topped for me.

I may just have to grab a plate later in remembrance.

The food or the founder?

I like everything about Waffle House except the anti-gun policy, which has existed for as long as I can remember, and probably originates with the founders and first generation managers of the business who started it in 1955.

I regularly violate their "no carry" policy. Sometimes there's an issue, and usually there's not.
Guess we know were old Joe's going.
Last time I visited one was about seven years ago as we started a road trip.

My omelette had a grease pond floating on it that was so disgusting, I was only able to eat a little - after patting it dry with napkins.

Never again.

On the way back from our trip, we stopped at a Shoney's and had the best breakfast ever.
I can't recall my last experience at a Huddle House, it's been so long. How good is their food?

That is as bad as saying "we stopped at Sonny's and had the best BBQ ever." ;)

I have had 100's of meals at WH and can only count a handful of times that it wasn't up to par for good, cheap breakfast food. As far as Shoney's? Well, I did work there for a while, so I am somewhat biased.
All star
Over medium, hash browns smothered, bacon, white toast, waffle.

I will drive past two houses to get to the good one in canton. Shoneys in canton was terrible.

It is just like Waffle House, depends on which one you go

I wish I could tell you. I am pretty sure I am banned from the closest one to me due to a night of drunken debauchery. :puke:
I want a good breakfast I go into the kitchen and put puppy dog hungry eyes on my wife. Best cook ever.

Maybe so but its still better than HH or WH or Shoneys or where ever.

Nemo
But some of those can still be good backups when in the doghouse. Don't burn all your bridges. ;-)
