My wife and I are looking for a new vet for our dogs. Does anyone here have one in Cumming that they use and would reccomend? We have been using Dr Willhite at PetsRPeopleToo in Roswell and have been happy with her, but are looking for someone closer to home.

Check out Dr. Orr (http://www.orranimalhospital.com/) its a family place. We've been taking our dogs (6 dogs, plus breeding) for about 9 years now and couldn't be happier.

Quick story-
When my dog (14 now) was bitten by a copper head a few years back, we went down to Atlanta in the middle of the night, and they wanted to charge us like $2000+ for what he needed. We paid enough just to get him stable then called Orr. We got a hold of the old man's Daughter (her and her brother are both vets there, I believe) and she told us to bring him in. She watched him all night, and wouldn't take a dollar. We were customers before that, and have been since. Had the same thing happen with one of the momma rat terriers when she got bit in the leg. Lost the litter, but she survived.

They sometimes don't accept new patients, but it won't hurt to call. Fairly priced too. They've been around the area forever, and they aren't going anywhere.
My brother and his family have always had several dogs.
I think Orr is the vet they use. Many vets are open during business hours, but Orr is available for emergencies that happen at night or weekends, too.
Not sure if this place is a family style service, but it's another good place to know for after hours/emergencies. http://www.aperc.com/

Just south of McFarland on Hwy 9.

My one experience w/them:
I was at a friend's house in Cumming on a Saturday night. We were sitting on the back porch and unexpectedly witnessed a "cat vs rocking chair" match. The rocking chair won. The cat's tail was fracture & the skin was stripped off. We drove to All Pets' emergency room & they did a good job sedating the cat & getting its tail stitched.

It was tough to watch but I did learn something - Tom & Jerry cartoons are not much of an exaggeration when it comes to the sensitivity of a cat's tail - it hurts!
I've used All Pets for emergencies after hours and will continue to when needed.

Thanks for the reccomendations to Orr. We will look into them.
Dr. Benson has been mine for years over at Crestview Animal Hospital. Great group of people over there, the desk rep isn't the brightest but the others are a good group :D
My family has been using orr since he started, I had to put all my bird dogs under my grandparents name cause they had so much business they couldn't take any new customers...if they are definitely go with them fair prices knowledge and experience, his son is there and there is a woman (can remember her name) she did a real good job with one of my dogs also, not sure if Lanier is still there full time or not, I do a lot of stuff myself now.
