We don't have any socialists in office now. Maybe some one-horse town somewhere has someone that won office "representing" some socialist party, but that's about it.

You really going to argue that Obama isn't a socialist? Almost every Republican and Democrat in office believe in some form of socialism. Most democrats are just straight socialist. Most politicians of today also believe in some form of Marxism as well.
