Anyone know of a place that rents USP Compacts in the Atlanta Metro? I'm willing to drive a little while to try it out.

I held one yesterday and loved the way it felt in my grubby little hands, but I want to shoot the 9mm, .40, and .45 to see how I like like them, and which I prefer. Hot Shots/Wild West Traders had none. I don't remember Autrey's having them either.

Now, if you have a USP compact, and are willing to let me shoot a box of ammo through your USP compact, I'm sure we can come up with a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Legacy38: Thanks again, Legacy. I checked out the site and they didn't list compacts, but I'll give 'em a yell.

Rammstein: Great! I can probably swing a day during the week since I know you work weekends.

Pistol shopping is much more difficult than rifle shopping. Now I want to fondle a P2000. :banghead:

M249,

You didn't list it as one of the calibers you were considering, but I have a USP Compact in .357 Sig. Your more then welcome to shoot a box thru it if you wanted to meet at the range in Cumming sometime.

If you haven't shot a .357 Sig before, it is like a really hot .40 S&W.

Gents, I truly appreciate the offers. I probably won't be hitting the range until after the weekend of the GCO Summer Lunch. If you're going to the lunch, and I hope you can make it, we can work out the details there.

tdporter: I hadn't even thought about the .357 Sig, but I'd like to give it shot or two... or 50. Can't you change the .357 barrel and fire 9mm through it as well?

mzmtg: I'm focused on the compacts now, but if I like those, I can see a full-size making its way into my hands soon after, so I'd love a change to shoot it.

MP: Great! See you at the Lunch.

ETA: For you USP Compact owners, do you use your USP for CC?

The range at Forest Park has a 9mm USP Compact for rent. I know since I have rented it before.

This probably would be my choice of gun, if I could afford it. Last time, I think they had a 2000 for sale, too. But its been a couple of weeks since I have been there.

Yes, and open carry, too! :D In fact, I did BOTH just yesterday.

I swapped over to a Kel-Tec P3AT, however, when I went to a place I was concerned might both have a law enforcement presence and be construed as a public gathering (undisclosed location in undisclosed county so as not to establish venue).

A 230 grain Federal Hydrashock sure gives me more comfort level than a 90 grain .380, though.

Don't know about the 9mm barrel, probably not. Most .357 Sig's can use a .40 S&W barrel and still use the same clips since a .357 Sig is a necked down .40 S&W case.

I don't CC my USP Compact, I usually carry my Glock 33 or Kahr PM9. I have been wanting to check out a P2000SK though..
