Looks like our military is going to have to make some dramatic cuts to make of for this malfeasance.

The United States Army’s finances are so jumbled it had to make trillions of dollars of improper accounting adjustments to create an illusion that its books are balanced.

The Defense Department’s Inspector General, in a June report, said the Army made $2.8 trillion in wrongful adjustments to accounting entries in one quarter alone in 2015, and $6.5 trillion for the year. Yet the Army lacked receipts and invoices to support those numbers or simply made them up.
Where is the leadership? Some of the top brass are going to have to retire with full pensions, and top positions at Defense contractors to make up for this.

It gets worse. Rampant fraud, waste, and abuse exist within every department/agency within the federal government, and it does not seem like any of our law makers are willing to do anything about it.

I wonder how much of that money is intentionally hidden for covert stuff? No one pays $500 for a toilet seat
First, you can't legally hide expenses from Congress. Second, the fact is though, is that despite the theft of billions of of taxpayer dollars, few, if any will face any real consequences.

How about we put the military on a very tight budget, the waste and fraud will still exist, but they'll have to be more judicious about it.

This also looks pretty bad for the Army's commander-in-chief.

You'd be surprised. I saw many a parts ordered by the Air Force from Lockheed that cost many thousands of dollars that could be procured at the local Home Depot for $20 or less dollars.
This, it's not covert stuff, covert stuff goes on the black budget, that nobody sees.

Plus, for really covert stuff, the CIA just sells cocaine, when they need a lot of untraceable cash.
