Election lost in November, loser refuses to leave office...

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/04/04/army-chief-ivory-coast-strongman-leaves-refuge/#

Monday's offensive marked an unprecedented escalation in the international community's efforts to oust Gbagbo, who lost the presidential election in November yet has refused to cede power to Alassane Ouattara even as the world's largest cocoa producer teetered on the brink of all-out civil war.
Following four months of attempts to negotiate Gbagbo's departure, the U.N. Security Council unanimously passed an especially strong resolution giving the 12,000-strong peacekeeping operation the right "to use all necessary means to carry out its mandate to protect civilians under imminent threat of physical violence ... including to prevent the use of heavy weapons against the civilian population."
Obama's solution?
Among the offers he turned down was President Barack Obama's proposal of a history professorship at a Boston university in return for stepping down peacefully.
OK, so in Libya we support a local rebel force augmented with troops of unknown origin (many of which appear to be the same scumbags we've been fighting in Iraq/Afghanistan) with no apparant defined leadership or organizational structure, all in the name of supporting democracy and providing humanitarian relief. In the Ivory Coast we have a democratic election, certified by the country's own election commission and by the U.N., with the winner having to fight to take his rightful place....and in the name of supporting democracy and providing humanitarian relief the best the "Dear Leader" can do is offer a bribe?

(sarcasm)

Barrack Obama offering a PROFESSORSHIP to a SOCIALIST leader, therefore allowing him to spread SOCIALISM in AMERICAN universities?! :shakehead:

Maybe ol' Glenn Beck is onto something after all. :-k

I'm glad to see the US is supporting a cause for the UN... Again.

At least France isn't surrendering in Libya...
