Charles Richey, a 49-year-old Atlantan, is accused of stabbing a man who was asking riders for money on a train near the Avondale station Jan. 24 around 8:15 p.m., the report said.

On Thursday, a man was shot to death by a teen while reportedly boarding a bus at the College Park station.

Once the homeless guy retreats, you don't pursue him and provoke him into a physical fight.
If you DO that, you're the criminal. And you better not use your gun. If you lose the fight, too bad. Take your beating like a man and chalk it up to experience.

IMHO, more of a "Don't do stupid stuff" by following they guy when he walks away. That is really bad idea. I am confident he will become a guest of the state for a while.

Provoke a fight? The homeless man never responded to provocation. He put his hands up and asked Richey to leave him alone. Richey responded with battery. Then Richey lost the fight. Then he stabbed him to death.

He followed him, attacked him, killed him.

Tha AJC article I read said that the homeless man had asked for money, then Richey began berating him. The homeless man kept walking away. Once Richey assaulted him, he was able to get some physical control of Richey, until Richey pulled a knife and stabbed the homeless man. The victim was not the aggressor.

Family members wonder how the shooter was able to get a weapon onto the bus and potentially hurt others.

"I feel like they need to have metal detectors because anyone can slip a gun on a bus, clearly. My brother got killed by one," the victim's sister, Gevonda Hill said.

Someone can get on a MARTA bus at the various stops in the city, correct? I have never ridden an Atlanta bus so I guess I need some educating on this.

Does she think all buses should have the metal detectors for everyone getting on the bus? If she really thinks thinks that she is just plain dumb as a brick under water.

Unless you include pat-downs with the metal detectors, they won't be much good.

I suspect the shooter did not have a Georgia Weapons Carry License.

Maybe the lack of a carry license caused him to do this evil?

Perhaps the lady wanting metal detectors should just advocate for everyone to get a carry licence?

I didn't see it in the linked article, but it was in the print AJC, but the shooter on the bus at the College Park station was 18 years old. I'd agree that it's highly unlikely he had a GWCL.
