Why is this surprising to you? When folks spend flu season at home and wear masks, not shaking hands, kids not in school getting the flu and coming home and crawling all over daddy, daddy with snotty noses, well, let's just say that the flu is difficult to transmit in those conditions. Covid has a much easier time transmitting from one individual to another.

Sometimes there is not a "deep state plot" at work, but just simple facts.
Sorry I missed your question. I'll answer it now.

Maybe where you live it is not like that, because here in Georgia (;)) as probably in most of the United States (at liest it was like that in Colorado, Utah, Arizona during the time I was there not long ago) folks are not spending the flue season at home wearing masks. Restaurants, the ones that are still open, are full, bars are full, sidewalks are full, shooting ranges are full (Ok, Ok, not now, no ammo), people wear masks under the nose and remove them as soon as they can, people shake hands (at least they shake hands with me). Directives are either so mild, or mildly imposed or just mildly observed that it is ridiculous to think they have a relevant impact. People complain about lockdowns. They do not even know what lockdown means. There is not lockdown here.
If we really want to believe the official numbers of COVID cases and deaths, let's try to explain why Europe and the USA have more or less the same "COVID" mortality rates. Strange because, yes, they actually do 100% lockdowns. They cannot even visit nearby regions (regions are much smaller than our States, most are just like large counties). For months in Italy, they could not even leave their towns. And not only it is imposed, it is observed because penalties and fines are so big that nobody dares. For months they could not go further than 60 yards from their homes. Christmas was totally erased.
Guess what? As of today Italy=1626 deaths/1M, USA=1616 deaths/1M, interesting isn't it? Italy, probably the most locked down country on the planet (*), and the USA, probably the least locked down western country. Either the numbers are wrong, or the the measures that are taken are mostly meaningless.

Sum all of that with the fact that based on several accounts probably even suicides are counted as covid deaths :D, then no, to answer your question, I am not surprised at all that officially the flue has disappeared.

(*) The UK may actually have more stringent regulations than Italy, however they have even more deaths per capita than Italy ....

Now it's the variants, powerful ones, that are going to get us.

But actually the virus mutates constantly, mostly towards the less potent. Those weaker viruses confer immunity. That's why SARS, Bird Flu, Ebola - they all fizzle out. Don't believe that theory if you don't want to. But for whatever reason they do fade away long before everyone dies.

Now if Mother Nature would apply that to the progressive communist thrash now in control.

Got the first moderna shot today at the VA in Johnson city. Second one scheduled for Aril1st...April fools day..beat you to it. No breast enlargement so far but will update as needed. It was good bike ride...614 miles ...cool this morning, but had to shed layers later on. I head so many horror stories about the VA and wondered how it would go. It was the most organized event I’ve been involved with in a very long time. In and out in 15-20 minutes. Not sure why the VA in Ga is different, but in Johnson City, TN, ALL eligible vets are getting shots. Second dose will fall in my vacation from work I put in for.

Anyone else Type A blood? This seems to be why we get it easier and more severe.

Breaking news - The NIH and CDC will lobby Congress for legislation requiring mandatory voluntary blood transfusions for all US citizens having Type A blood with a newly developed "special" blood formulation resistant to the COVID-19 virus. NIH spokesperson Frank Snothard indicated that...............
I can see it now.

It BOGUS. Fake news trying to get everyone to get the vaccine. Enticing men for to try and women, or whatever (just to make sure my socially credit score remains good) to push them to get the shot.

Either way it must be bogus.

But then again, could be his first in 30 years.

from article above

A rare complication of the coronavirus appears to be painful, prolonged erections.
One US victim of COVID-19 experienced priapism (a long-lasting erection) when, doctors believe, the disease caused blood to clot in his penis, according to a new study on the complication.
In August 2020, an obese 69-year-old was admitted to Dayton, Ohio’s Miami Valley Hospital with a bad case of the coronavirus.

Just thought I would pass along some information that I only recently learned from epidemiologist on a veterinary board. For those of you who are concerned about the mRNA vaccines, the Johnson and Johnson vaccine uses an adenovirus-vectored technology that has been used for over 20 years in vaccines and cancer treatments. All things considered, the mRNA vaccines have a slight edge over the adenovirus-vectored vaccine, but I would gladly take the Johnson and Johnson vaccine today rather than wait for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to become available later, if it became available to me first.

I agree.

Yet, the last election elected democrats to control our government. The new generation elected them, and they will pay back the debt as well as the socialist ideology.

I prefer the J&J, old technology. One shot. Still prevents hospital and bad illness.

Graph of Georgia's data as of 3/12/21. Again, this shows the 7 day rolling average of "cases" from 1/24 through 3/2 with a trendline fitted through early May. Each vertical line represents four days, each horizontal line represents 250 days. It's possible that we crossed the 1000/day threshold on 3/2, data more recent is still incomplete. Even on Georgia's data page, they use a 14 day window which would mean 2/27 is the most recent reliable day, so I'm fudging just a little bit. I still find it incredibly suspicious that OpenOffice (I'm too cheap for Excel) can fit the equation so precisely (0.997) even for an already smoothed data like the 7 day average.

I agree. It's obvious to me that the China Virus is under control in GA today.

We need to get the Big Teachers Assoc to get back to teaching and stop ignoring the education of our kids. These Union people have no problem with ignoring their responsibility to our kids as they get their money for free.
