"Knows"? So, in this case, ignorance would be excusable? Maybe someone should tell the Congresswoman how successful all those "Gun Free Zones" are. :screwy:In the wake of the Jan. 8 fatal mass shooting in Arizona, Congresswoman Laura Richardson plans to introduce legislation to protect members of Congress and those around them from suffering similar fates.
The Freedom to Serve Without Fear Act would create new gun prohibitions "at scheduled events where an elected representative is engaging in official acts, representational duties, or campaign activity," according to a written statement from Richardson's office. Richardson's bill, which her office said is to be introduced today, would "make it unlawful for any person to knowingly carry a firearm in, or within 100 feet of an entrance to, or exit from, a building or structure where the person knows that a member of Congress is performing an official and representational duty or engaging in campaign activity as a candidate for election for federal, state or local office," the statement says.
