pro2am, that is truly a great bit of advice. I frequently reread it myself and so should everyone else who is involved in the fight over retaining and expanding our rights.
I like it, but this is the only part I dislike: "USE THE POWER OF FEAR AND GUILT. Gun owners are susceptible to these emotions. Awaken sleeping RKBA activists by tapping these powerful emotions. Fear and guilt will move mountains -- and fill the collection plate, and recruit new members. If gun owners won't become active for themselves, ask them to do it for their families. For their children. For their country. And -- this tactic works! -- ask them to do it for YOU. "
Which is exactly why I do not like it. To be taken seriously we must be the side of reason, logic and facts.
You're welcome. I printed & bound a couple of those for the Maocn show. I liked it too. I'm sure no passerbys checked it out so I'm glad someone got some use out of em.
Tink, Most people were really into listening to snake's spiel about things. Business cards and applications are the main thing that flew, which is to be expected. They looked good, though. Good job.
It is very good advice. Which is why it is the second item mentioned on how you can help GCO. http://www.georgiacarry.org/cms/about/h ... -help-gco/
Well, that's cuz I threw a nice little piece of bait out there (Do you have a firearms license?) then followed up with a tastier piece (You know you can't carry into a restaurant that serves alcohol, right?) then sunk the hook in (Did you know that you're still in possession of that firearm and IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW if you leave it in your car?)
Mine too at Gainesville. Worked like a champ. Do you have a firearms license? Yes - Are you aware of the restrictions you are still under? -- Yes - let me tell you about GCO and what we are doing about that. Do you have a minute? -- No - Let me tell you some and what we at GCO are doing about that. Do you have a minute? No -- Let me tell you what GCO is doing to help clean up the GFL application process. Do you have a minute?
I think I may have picked up a pattern in your responses At our show (the first one), we mostly introduced ourselves by asking the person was familiar with GCO. I think you guys have a much more direct method and I will recommend using this method on Saturday, when I'm there.
I also used, "You don't have a GFL? Do you live here in Chatham County?" "Did you know that Chatham County is in violation of the shall-issue law? They tell you it will be at least 90 days before your license is issued, but the statute states that they have 60 days MAX before they shall issue the license. GCO filed a suit against several other counties in the state to fix this, and it's pending before the GA Supreme Court. The more members we get here, the more likely our lawyers are to want to fix the process here, too."
Thanks for the bump MP. I have never read this before and it will be very helpful for me and everybody else.
