    From 16-11-127.1

    (17) Teachers and other school personnel who are otherwise authorized to possess or carry weapons, provided that any such weapon is in a locked compartment of a motor vehicle or one which is in a locked container in or a locked firearms rack which is on a motor vehicle.

So would you interpret this to mean that a teacher could bring a firearm on campus as long as it is locked up in a vehicle? How would a teacher be "authorized"? Do you think a GFL would suffice for authorization?

    No.

My guess would be that a person would have to seek authorization from the top most decision makers, probably like a county board of education.

    No.

So I gather from the other discussion.....

that it would be ok for a school employee to have a handgun on school grounds as long as it is properly secured in a motor vehicle?

That was my understanding. Can't take it as legal advice, of course.
