Right now I have an A2 AR15, but want to make into an A3, so I can mount a red dot. Does anybody know what is the average cost for a gun smith to do this?

Call Chris at Semper Fi Arms. He is local, a GCO Sponsor and does nice work.

You'll have to change out the upper reciever or just buy a carry handle mount.

I would buy a carry handle mount.

I tried one of those, and found the off set was just too much for me, plus it effected my check weld dramatically as well. I rather just suck it up and get the flat top. But thanks for the suggestion.

A bare upper should be fairly cheap. Talk to Chris about getting one and swapping it.
I know that most uppers run about $109 to $150. But what I am wondering is the cost to swap them out. Just wonding if it would be more cost effective to buy the tools to do it myself, or have a smith do it. Either way, I just want the job done right and not Bubby-fied.

Got of the phone with Chris just a few minutes ago. He quoted me a price for both the upper and work I want done. The price was good to go.

Thanks for suggesting him.
