I've sent emails to my Senator over the last few years asking him to support legislation and have never received a response or acknowledgement from him. This week I phoned his office and was told he doesn't respond to these emails, doesn't acknowledge them and doesn't even tell the staff his position on bills. Communication with another forum member confirmed this was SOP for the Senator.

I would like to find out who else is in this district so we can discuss issues in this district, responses (or lack thereof) from the Senator, candidates or anything else related to district 40. This is the thread for it. I put this in Off-topic Political, so more than just gun laws can be discussed. Maybe together, we can get some communication going with the Senator.

If you're in district 40, let's hear from you.

Currently, Senate District 40 is occupied by Fran Millar.

Looks like Millar has a challenger. Dick Anderson. I've never heard of him.

The GOP primary also features challenges to three area legislators. State Sen. Fran Millary (R-Dunwoody) drew a Republican opponent, Dick Anderson of Chamblee.
Anderson is known for calling a meeting last year of theâ€Fabulous 40th Senate District†without inviting Millar. The meeting became a forum to introduce the “Save Dunwoody†candidates for city office and to air some of the ideas of the Liberty Caucus, an organization that grew out of Ron Paul’s campaign for president.

I have lived in District 40 for two years and, despite several attempts to reach out to him, have never had him take me up on an invitation to meet with him or even a return phone call from his office. I think it would be great to identify and band together with others in District 40 to try and make some inroads with Millar and, failing that, to take a hard look at his challenger to determine whether he would be a better option for the district.

I certainly want to give Millar a chance and getting a bill to the Senate floor would be one way to check his pulse on GWCL issues. His vote will say more than some campaign statement or generic, although currently non-existent, email reply. Hopefully we'll find some others in his district and get a meeting with him or maybe a lunch. Strength in numbers and the more we have, the more inclined he may be to meet with us.

That said, I think this could be a good place to discuss the strengths and weakness of any challengers. Who knows, we may want to meet with them too.
