being new to the area, we decided to drive around looking for fresh produce yesterday. found a cool fruit stand of Spot Rd, ut selection was limited and it's a bit out of the way. Decided to go into Sprouts, which i guess is trying to be Whole Foods. We were so happy to be able to find Kabocha drinks, Raw Trail mix, Bison Jerky and other things we haven't been able to get since moving out of Downtown 4 years ago.

Well we spent the better part of an hour in the store, literally went everywhere checking everything out. we had an awesome cashier who offered me a free Honey Shot and was very polite. as My Girlfriend was paying, I started to fill out the email club card at the end of the register. I was approached by a polite guy who i guess was the manager. He politely told me it was store policy from AZ that they do not allow guns in the store and that they are one of the few stores in GA that don't allow firearms. he also showed me the sign that was pretty much transparent on the front door off to the side.

the cashier said she hopes that wouldn't keep us from shopping there when I returned to the counter to finish the clu email card and just crumbled it up and said unfortunately it will.

Again, everyone was very polite and the guy seemed like he didn't want to tell me the policy but had to as part of his job. I'll write the HQ and ask why they don't follow state law. Unfortunately, We won;t e shopping there as long as our guns are not allowed. which is a real shame...

I guess we will have to drive down to Milton for the Whole foods...

Corporate response:

Hello Suprman,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about our decision to prohibit firearms in our stores. Please understand that we recognize and respect our customers’ rights under the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, a right that prohibits the government (but not private retailers) from infringing on citizens’ right to bear arms. That right, however, must be balanced with our need as a retailer to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our customers and team members. That's why, after careful and thoughtful analysis, we have decided to prohibit our customers and our team members from bringing firearms onto our store premises. While this decision may disappoint some of our valued customers, such as yourself, we stand by our decision and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from our communities about it. We hope that you will continue to be a part of the Sprouts family notwithstanding our decision on this issue. We value your patronage and hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Janai

I think my response would be:
Dear Sprouts Customer Relations,
Thank you very much for the prompt and considerate reply to my letter dated _____. It means a lot to me to know that retailers such as yourself are dedicated to not only your own sales but to the welfare and security of your shoppers as well. Can you provide me with details as to: 1) what, specifically, you do to provide a safe environment for your shoppers that would mitigate an active shooter scenario to provide for the safety of your patrons and 2) documentation for the 'overwhelmingly positive community feedback' that you you've received for making your stores gun free? As a person that carries a firearm for my personal safety, I'm always interested in how retail stores and other public 'gun free zones' enact measures to keep the public safe from active shooters and how the local community has recognized these efforts by the property owners.

Thanks!
I've never noticed it at the Athens store. I've never been in there without carrying either. We go quite regularly.
I wouldn't look too hard if a sign will disrupt your shopping habits.

Dear Sir,

We have a laser guided specific homogenized electroplated system in place to protect our shoppers. We are not allowed to divulge the specific modulation solenoid that we utilize, however, rest assured you are completely encapsulated within are security perimeter when shopping within our safe zones.

Our overwhelming positive community feedback was derived from within our corporate community by way of a community poll that was dispersed with a 3 way tangent and a modulated protractor resonating at 48 MHz. Please note that this was a non-liquidated poll conducted within a margin of error of +/- +/- which makes for a double positive control.

Thank you for your concern and supporting our efforts for a safe shopping experience .
Ha. I wish I could say the same. I need to be in LA fitness!
I'll get you a guest pass, try it free for a few weeks. A bunch of folks that workout there carry. Also several Forsyth Co deputies workout there. They are very gun friendly.

PM me your name and number, I'll be there Saturday morning and I'll get them to hook you up.
i guess i will try earth fair, if its a no go i dunno where to buy kombucha for the SO...
I'd suggest Amazon if all else fails...
What is that stuff for $174 for a 12 pack
It comes from the same place Slurm does, and totally tastes like it came from a worm's butt. I tried it once, it's nasty stuff.

Or you could make your own:

What is that stuff for $174 for a 12 pack
And notice 38 people have reviewed it. I've tried Kombucha and can't bear it.
Exactly how do they deal with concealed carry? Metal detectors? Wanding? Pat downs? Polite inquiry?

I think every letter questioning a business gun policy needs to reference Kroger's choice and experience. Kroger has very publicly and firmly announced they will not restrict guns beyond what local laws allow, and their profits went up at the same time when most others in the industry went down. It basically needs to be pointed out that allowing guns will not be TEOTWAWKI, nor will customers desert in droves, or whatever else they worry about. The #gunsense people have even given up on Kroger.

Of course, if the CEO or owner is #gunsense, then it's hopeless.
We never can get everything at one stop.. We hit up Kroger, Trader Joes and Whole Foods and rarely go to Publix unless we need ONE item in particular that none of the other carries.
