    smart but not smart enough...

The scary thing is he got them all the way to Georgia with them. If the dealer hadn't ratted him out, no one would ever have known.

Of course he wasn't the first and won't be the last.

A buddy of mine brought an M-16 home from 'Nam with him and still has it. I know another guy who has an AK-47 he shipped home one piece at a time and another guy who managed to bring an SKS home with him. It probably happens more often than we might think.

Actually, I used to have a box of grenades until I decided it wasn't a good idea to have them in the house with small kids. OK. My wife made me get rid of them... But it sure was fun "disposing" of them!

My father brought an SKS back from Vietnam with him. He won't get to pass it down to me, though. Some jerk-off stole it from the motel he was staying in at the time!

I've seen a couple of "take home" SKS's from 'Nam on Gunbroker.

When my dad was over in Vietnam he knew a guy that tried to send an M16 home bit by bit, he got in a lot of trouble.
