Sig P320 .357 sig

I have a P320 in 9mm and love it. Everybody complains about the cost of the P320 out of the box compared to a comparable Glock, but having to replace the trigger, sights and other components on the Glock to make them usable, is it really cheaper in the long run?

5mm (or .25") is really a big problem? Don't really think 1/4 inch is that big of deal when you add all the extra thickness of any holster it is in to consideration.

I also think bore axis from a technical/physics standpoint is a poor excuse not to buy a gun. I personally think nobody can tell a difference when shooting different bore axis guns because there are just too many variables between gun types to properly evaluate. Now, if you don't like the way a gun looks because of high bore axis, that is a different story altogether and a legitimate reason not to like a certain gun as I feel you have to like the way a gun looks. Me personally, I thinks Glocks are ugly and wouldn't have one for that reason alone (but they also don't feel good in my hand).

The reasons I bought the P320 are as follows;
-Trigger was amazing. I don't like many of the guns with the trigger safety like Glocks have (I personally think this is a useless feature and is no real safety at all).
-Feels natural to hold in my hand and is comfortable to hold.
-I like the way it looks (along with other Sigs which I don't have but want).

Although I knew the trigger assembly came out and I thought that was intriguing before I bought it, I found taking the assembly out to clean the gun makes things really easy in that you can really get down into the component so much more easily with it out of the gun frame.

Just a few thoughts.

I shot a few rounds of a .357 Sig at a range-- traded pistols with the guy in the lane next to me at a shooting range.
It seemed fine. Like a .357 magnum revolver. Too much recoil for a compact concealed-carry gun, but it should be great in a larger sized pistol.

I really like the idea of a necked-down cartridge for a self-defense handgun, due to the fact that the opening in the chamber for the bullet to slide into will be much larger than the bullet, so if the bullet is a millimeter out of alignment, it will still find the hole and get stuffed in. This should improve feeding and reliability.

P.S. I assume that with only a barrel swap, you could shoot .40 S&W through it? I'd definitely get that extra barrel, in case .357 Sig ammo becomes expensive or temprorarily unavailable in your area.
Maybe also for less-expensive target practice, if you're going to be burning through thousands of rounds a year. I'm not seeing an $15/ 50 round boxes of ammo in my quick Google search. It's more like $20/ box.

25 cents / round vs. 40 cents, each being cheap FMJ range ammo.

After shooting 5000 rounds of .40, you'd have saved $75.... which is still probably only half the cost of a replacement barrel.... OKAY, so the math doesn't work out on saving money. But you would get better ammo availability!
