With the temperatures dipping down into the 80s, I decided to go back out to the range with my C308 rifle. It had been 48 days since I last got to shoot it; 65 days since I shot it using just the iron sights. I was shooting PPU ammunition.

I printed off a few Army Qualification Test (AQT) targets on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. At this scale, the target is supposed to represent the full-size target at the following distances: 25 yds = 100 yds; 50 yds = 200 yds; 75 yds = 300 yds; 100 yds = 400 yds. And, for those who might be curious, the 3 silhouette is 8 1/4 inches wide by 7 5/8 inches tall; the 4 silhouette is 6 1/4 by 4 1/8; the 5 silhouette is 4 1/4 by 3 1/16; and, the V circle has a 1 1/4 inch diameter.

I shot the first target while standing and the rest of the targets while sitting, using a gun rest on a table. I fired 10 shots at each target, but did not check my hits until after the last shot. I scored 47 out of 50 on the 25/100 yd target (photo 1). I scored 26 out of 50 on the 50/200 yd target (photo 2). It was my tightest group, but I apparently got a three inch rise going from 25 to 50 yds?! (If I could move that group down, I would have scored 47 out of 50 again.) I scored 37 out of 50 on the 75/300 yd target (photo 3), and 20 out of 50 on the 100/400 yd target (photo 4).

Good shooting.
Thanks!

Like you, I also want to shoot my rifle(s) at some distance, 100 and 200 yards, but I'm also waiting for cooler weather. The last time I tried, in June, my glasses were fogging over from the humidity and sweat was dripping all over my weapon.
Ever perspired so much that you had salt deposits on your face? Yeah, that was me on my last range trip in June. And, along with my glasses sliding around on my nose, I also end up with tiny sweat droplets spots on the inside of my glasses.
