I sell on ebay, some gun parts , I sold a old 1960s Russian vostok barrel but it had the receiver on it, I did not know that I could not do that (barrel on the receiver ) I know now because the usps has taken the barrel and not returned it to me and will not say why, there are no parts for that gun around at all so it is of no value, what trouble could I be in ?

I don't think it's so much the barrel being on the receiver as it was the transfer of the receiver itself (legally it's the firearm if it bears the serial number).

When you say USPS 'took the barrel' does that mean they took the receiver as well?

they do not make parts for it and never did, it was just made a few years as a 22lr target rifle. it is a wall hanger imho.

Postal employees are for the most part completely unaccountable. What they do does not have to make sense or follow policy. If they act in a way that violates policy, absolutely nothing will be done.

Hell, they don't even refund your postage when they lose a package.
