setting up at places other than gun shows?

I dunno if this has been discussed
but with all the fall festivals happening
I wonder if events like fall festivals might be a good place for exposure

it might be too late to get involved in these but good for future
but here's one for example
http://www.georgiaapplefestival.org/

and another
http://www.dawson.org/index.php?option= ... &Itemid=26

there's some sort of Roswell event happening -I believe taste of Roswell
perhaps getting some flyers posted and not neccessarily setting up at events like this

Hostile Reaction

If you set-up at some place other than where you expect the crowd to be conservative and gun-friendly, you may get some flak. There could be a public scene. I routinely criticize people who set up tables to distribute left-wing propaganda and who promote socialist causes at public events. Unless, of course, it's to be expected that only bleeding-heart liberals and Marxists would attend such an event anyway. Then I keep my mouth shut.
I haven't heard anyone mention this but there's a gun and knife at the Savanah Armory Oct 13/14. I never heard of this show before.
so we'd get some publicity huh. Hmmm. Have to be disarmed at them though due to public gathering. It really sucks that everywhere we want to set up a booth we have to do so without our guns. :shakehead:

 I like the idea of setting up in more places, but I'm not sure how we'd be treated at one of these festivals. Remember how Chet S. was treated in VA at one of their festivals? The press would be worth the time, and I wouldn't mind getting called names for a few hours if it got us some more AJC time and the associated rush in membership, but I don't want to get GCO cast in a bad light. Does anyone have experience in PR and have an opinion on this?

I know the GCO leadership wanted me to coordinate a table there but unfortunately I can't... work conflicts.
Greetings,
I feel several of you are taking a negative attitude to something you do not know. I was at the Duluth Fall Festivle this Sunday and it was packed with hundreds of vendors and orgainzationsand thousands of people. From AA to republican party, toe candidates running for office, to hospitals. This is an excellent forum for us and most likely will have very positive outcomes. We will only get a negative response if we create a negative enviroment. Our purpose should be all about education, support, and recruitment not guns.

+1

don't forget the gay & lesbian groups and the church choir vendors & ya really have a party!

all kidding aside, GCO is not selling guns - I understand it as education regarding laws & my rights as a GA resident & protecting the 2nd amendment.
I, for one, would be willing to help out at a booth outside the confines of a Gun Show. I was an Army Recruiter in a VERY Liberal Anti-Liberal area and became accustomed to being called names and treated like a 3d class citizen by the liberal elite. It would be nostalgic for me to experience it again.

I agree. Getting exposure outside of gun shows will help eductate nongun show people about who we are and what we are doing. The publicity can do great things for us. There are also alot o fgun owners and GFL holders who do things other than go to gun shows.

While I expect & hope you're kidding I would never do that while representing GCO. Talk about a bad light if you somehow got caught.... Not to mention I would NOT want to be the reason Mr. Eastman decided to ban GCO table from his shows....

Now when I'm not officially rep'ing GCO... welllll. Let's just say I know of a certain G19 that has seen the inside of one or two Outbacks.

So the gun show is considered a PG? At the last Savannah show I saw a bunch of folk carrying. [-X

It's against the rules for us as dealers/vendors.

Sorry, that was supposed to be a quote and a question.
Vendors/dealers carrying is banned per Eastman policies at his gun shows, as are loaded mags and loose ammo. There was an accidental shooting at one his shows a few years ago that killed a young boy, while his father (if memory is correct) was using a vendors gun to see how well it fit a holster.

Idiot had to ruin it for everybody. Someone forgot the four rules...

So it's just a rule right? It's a public place and not a PG? Like a store putting out the no guns sign?

Visitors are required to empty all guns at the door and let the leos at the door secure the actions open with a zip tie. Signs say that violators MAY be prosecuted. Numberous people, paid entry, common cause....could easily fit the defination of a PG.

Vendors/Dealers caught in violation of carry rules will be banned from all future Eastman gun shows.

Point well taken. Thanks
