I'm selling one of my J-frames to a buyer in MD. Do I just overnight the package to an FFL in MD and have the buyer take delivery from them (after filling out the required forms)? Do I have to have an FFL send the weapon from here in GA? I can mail it myself, correct?

    Thanks.

You can ship it yourself. but verify with the receiving FFL first. Some will not accept shipments from an individual. Also check to see what documentation they will want from you. Most will want a copy of your drivers license enclosed with the pistol, so that they can record where/who it came from in their books.

Be sure that it's unloaded and packed well.

Wow... so as I continue my research, this looks harder and harder.

The place I was going to use has a policy of not transferring weapons they themselves sell locally. On the surface I can accept the efficacy of just such a policy, but on second glance I see that they charge $55 for FFL transfers from out of state, so any perceived loss of profit on the sale of the same gun from their own shop should more than be made up on the transfer of an out-of-state weapon.
