Say NO to The News

I came across an article that I found to be fairly interesting. Basically, the author lays out 15 reasons why you should STOP WATCHING THE NEWS. I have grown tired of the constant "news nuggets" that provide little to no actual, useful information and this paper seems to explain my frustration pretty well.

Now...for those of you who DO like news nuggets, or quick-reads that are only a couple of paragraphs, this isn't for you. It's 11 pages long and will take more than 4 minutes to read (for most folks!).

At any rate, I think I just might give the "cold turkey" method a try and see if I can survive. Somehow, I think I will wonder why I didn't do it earlier. Speaking of disconnecting...time to take the dogs for a walk, it'll be hot out there soon!

I went cold turkey on the news the night of 11/8/08 and stayed clean for 7 years. Unfortunately, I slipped off the wagon about 6 months ago after 7 years of sobriety. Good luck in your quest.

Wow...that's impressive. Out of curiosity, what "brought you back"?

Trying to get up to speed about CC and other 2A issues after a long absence. People kept telling me about the droning of the news heads about the topic. I had been out of shooting for 10+ years for a variety of reasons and wanted to get back into it. I renewed my GA CWL and started going to the range weekly. I've regretted falling off the wagon more times than I care to think about. I do enjoy being back into shooting on a regular basis though.

Gotcha. That's the beauty of this website...you can keep up to date on all the 2A stuff without all the hot air that is blown about by the media. But..there is a lot of hot air around here too!

No Way!!!!!!!!
I get most all of my breaking news now from a motorcycle board I frequent. Users from all over the world, supplying info from various sources, typically in advance of main stream media reports. If anything major happens, that is where I turn to first for info.
I think most people get their news through the internet these days and from more sources than ever before. Television networks continue to lose their stranglehold on information.
I watch them when I can because I need to know what everyone else has been told to believe so I know where they are coming from. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
