And most of us over age 45 probably remember the TV show "the A-Team" who used factory under-folder stocked Mini 14s usually in stainless steel, also with flash hiders, as their long arm of choice.

What other films or TV shows have good close-up images of Ruger centerfire semi automatic rifles being used --the mini 14, the mini 30, or the Ranch Rifle?

It wouldn't be a Ranch Rifle because of the fact that Gina's gun had to have its scope mount attached to the left side of the receiver, utilizing the bolt hold open locking mechanism slot. That was the old-school way. Ranch rifles came with scope bases machined right on top of the receiver.

The Long Kiss Mini-14 was in an aftermarket stock with some kind of heat shield covering the 6 inch section of the barrel that would normally be exposed, between the gas block and the front sight.

Somehow, I think it has to be sacrilegious to use "expert assassin" and "Ruger Mini-14" in the same sentence. But the movie itself wasn't that bad.

    Isn't the A-Team gun actually a KAC-556 F, not a Mini-14?

My plan for the third magazine was a good, old-fashioned 20-round automatic magazine dump. Moving the selector to the A position, I grabbed hold tightly and depressed the trigger. The rifle was controllable … but just barely. This rifle is fun to shoot, but it does certainly make you appreciate buffers in a modern-day semiautomatic rifles. Of course, no trip to the range on an KAC-556 F would be complete without folding the stock and shooting it A-Team style. I shot some three-round burst and then the obligatory mag dump. Although the rifle did not get away from me, the only thing I was sure that I could hit was the berm. Unless in extremely close quarters, this is definitely just a Hollywood technique.
