My daughter got her first GFL in 83 days in Rockdale County. My wife is still waiting on hers.

Everything on the "county page" is the same:

- $18.00 to probate court, $5.00 cash to Sheriff's Dept. for fingerprinting (digital prints), and $24.00 money order to GBI.

- Smooth process, friendly staff at the probate court. Have proof that you were born in the US, and that you're a current resident of the county. Asked for SSN.

- Sheriff's office acts like they're doing you some sort of huge favor.

83 > 60 and that sucks :(

Did they give the impression that it was required or what?

No, more like they were just reading from their script.

The bottleneck in the process HAS to be with the Probate Court. Maybe the GFL is lowest on their "To Do" lists, maybe they're "severely understaffed", etc.

When one county can do exactly the same thing in two weeks it becomes asinine that my county takes 8-12 weeks. Their literature, and their "script" STILL warns that the process may take up to 16 weeks.
