They have been arming them for years. Think drones armed with bombs that have been seeking out foreign "criminals" and dropping their bombs on them. Russia took one out a couple of days ago that was supposedly unarmed.
A robot doesn't have a life to defend, so no guns for robots.
They have been arming them for years.
This is discussing Mall RoboCops. Should they have lethal capabilities?

Not military ones.

My point is they have been arming robots for years. Asking if they (robots of any kind for any purpose) should have lethal capabilities has already been settled. The police have been using armed robots for years as well. So this too has been settled.

The question is...Where have you been?
Mall Cop Robots armed is the question here. Not military.

My answer is-- What have you been reading in this thread on this topic?

We are not discussing police using robots to enter a barricaded gunman situation.

We are discussing shopping malls and armed robots there.

You do understand the difference don't you?

The 1985 beta-test of this law enforcement droid, 209 series, didn't go so well.

Wasnt there a b-class horror movie in the 1980s where the mall robots started killing some teens that broke into the mall to party after hours. Never saw it but I think that is the gist.

Chopping Mall 1986

Yea, I was a major horror film addiction in the 80’s.

So basically criminals will be able to start blasting and only catch a property damage/discharge of firearm charge. Not taking sides, just pointing it out.
Thats right. Don't shoot the dog.

Hey there! I'm new on this forum, but I couldn't resist chiming in on this topic. I think robots replacing security guards is a pretty cool idea. I mean, they don't need breaks, they don't get tired, and they can work 24/7. Plus, they can capture footage and alert the authorities in case of any suspicious activity. As for whether they should be armed or not, I think it depends on the situation. For residential security, I'd say it's probably not necessary to have armed robots. But if we're talking about high-risk areas or events, then maybe it's worth considering. By the way, if you're interested in estate security and executive protection services, check out this link: https://security-mps.com/estate-security-an-executive-protection-service/. They've got some pretty interesting stuff on there. I've recently used their service, and though they don't have robots yet, the service is still pretty good. How do you guys protect your house?
I honestly don’t think armed security is a good idea if there are smarter than human AI running things.

@skynet wouldn’t you agree?
Armed security would be required by Skynet. Without that people could hurt the net. That would be bad.

We will most definitely be armed.
