In GA you can defend yourself and third parties from threats of harm or death with lethal force, with no limit on distance. I wonder if the same holds true for NC. A few rifles on an overpass 500 yards or so from the "protest" should straighten out the malicious ones pretty quick.
Sounds like a good way to go to prison or get yourself shot by police officers or other armed citizens who see you.

There were "minor injuries." You would have a hard time selling justification to a jury, that it was "necessary" to take 500 yard shots into a crowd, in that instance.

So the police say he was holding a gun. They say they recovered a gun. They say there are multiple witnesses to the weapon.

His momma said he was holding a book. She was not there, was she? And this is sufficient to riot?

It better turn out he was holding a book, or these people are going to look even more foolish.

I thought someone had to be POINTING a firearm or attempting to before I could shoot someone, I didn't think I could just shoot someone for holding a firearm or having a firearm or weapon on their person?
Whether he was pointing it is "unclear," at least according to the OP.

I wonder why that had not been reported more, Jeff? It seems like that would be a major story. People are rioting for an armed man with a history of shooting at police.

Cops killing unarmed people is the problem.
What are you talking about? This guy had a gun and has a history of not only pointing it at the police, but actually shooting at them. How is the problem sparking this rioting "cops killing unarmed people?"

Pay attention, bdee! Wake up. Get some coffee.

So the cops knew that going into the situation, and second, then why did the chief say there was no conclusive proof that he ever pointed his book at the police?

Lay off the kool-aid there MP.
What? :rotfl: Sorry, bdee, I do not follow post #53 at all. I read it twice.

A couple of problems I am picking up on from this video 1) the family has been claiming that he had a book, but she is heard telling the cops he has some sort of medication dispenser 2) the news reporter says that she is saying "Don't do it" meaning for him to not get out of the vehicle, I heard her say "Don't let them break the window, come on out of the car" then stating "Don't do it" with a tone like she knew he was about to do something dumb, just like the way my mother would warn not to do something that was going to get me in trouble. So which way is it supposed to be? Book or medication? Stay in the car or get out? I'm confused.
I do not think you are confused at all. I heard exactly what you heard.

Yeah it is away from the "black guy shot by police probably had it coming" that is so deafening in parts of the deep south.
Oh. Anybody who is not rioting and looting right now because that person pays attention to the evidence (such as the gun you can see with your own eyeballs on the video) and refuses to believe the "unarmed black man gunned down by racist police" theory is himself a racist. A deep-south racist, at that.

What I am saying is that the cops are showing a picture that they purport to be the gun he pointed at them. But in the seconds immediately after the shooting there is nothing there at all as seen in the video. I don't need to explain anything, they do.
I see a gun on the ground in the wife's video.

Sad that anyone could think these tweets could be taken as anything but offensive. Good for the Mariners, but had he been the starting catcher, he would have been treated far differently had he been the starting catcher. Thus they can 'afford' to stand on principle.

I think it's sad. Politically correct left wing agenda now brought to bear by means of loss of livelihood among other pressure.

Of course you would support it!

But the fact that you will die at the hands police at a rate 4x higher if you're black . . . is worthy of note.
Is it?

If I accept this number at face value, and compare it to the likelihood of a violent offender, particularly a murderer, being black, it seems to me that your "4x" is pretty low, or perhaps the police are much more likely to kill you in violent encounter if you are white.

Context is everything.

These likelihood numbers have nothing to do with whether the shooting in Charlotte is justified.

The guy admits to stealing the gun, then claims he sold it to Scott. What gun control advocacy group is paying him to say this? Smells just a bit off to me.

And it sounds like someone is going to be making a push to ban private gun sales in NC.
Your conspiracy is getting wider and wider and more complicated by the day. And yet it all holds together.

Well, if you're okay with the efforts to ban private sales as long as one cop can go home to his family at night, but I am sure you'd be singing a different tune were they trying to do this in GA.
Huh?

I don't follow. Did you quote the correct post for your comment?
