If the main point is that Social Security is underwriting the rest of the federal budget, that's not new news. If the point is that that's bad - that's not new news either. Luckily, the SS taxes taken from me are real money that cannot simply tossed aside in the accounting. Now who's going to pay me the benefits that SS has promised when I retire, that's an entirely different question. One that needs an answer.

Do you think that aliens/intelligent life exists out in space? About 45% yes, 35% no, 20% don't know
Do you think Social Security will be around to help you when you retire? About 30% yes, 40% no, 30% don't know.
So more people my age believe in aliens than social security.
