Everywhere I go I have a sidearm with me. Many of those I also have a 5 foot hiking staff. Bum hip and ankle. It helps. Even if its before that time of day or distance and they have not gotten achey yet.

an umbrella that won't break may be good for poking somebody, but it's not going to be good as a club. Too light, too wide and soft. Should be good for blocking and parrying, if you train, though.

Speaking of a gentleman's umbrella being used in a fight:

For these prices I'd rather buy a proven ASP baton.

Standard umbrella - $129.95
Telescopic umbrella - $229.95
Premium umbrella - $299.95
Really?

Oh, so you're going to carry a police baton into a nice restaurant, s shopping mall, to a business meeting one rainy afternoon, etc?

Are you going to carry that baton openly, or concealed?

How many places are you willing to get thrown out of, and how many citizen-LEO encounters are you willing to have in exchange for the better value of the nightstick over the umbrella?
i think i want an old school sap. anyone know who makes a quality one these days?
I really like that umbrella. As far as other stuff noted below, I have at least one of each. Prefer my staff for normal usage and appearance as well as other needful purposes.

Now I'm pondering a laptop bag strap or carry handle that has lead shot in it. I bet there is a market for that...

Unless I missed something in the statutes, batons, like brass knuckles, aren't regulated. If that's the case, why would it be a problem? They're quite compact when closed.
A cane can be carried anywhere without question, even on a plane. And it will never get a second glance.

And if you don't really need it, it's easily stored in a closet or the trunk of the car when you can otherwise be armed.

No problem you mention regarding a collapsible baton. Either in a pocket or belt pouch. But I still prefer a staff. Never had problem with that either.

If the manager thinks there is I am game so show him the below knee to above hip scar on the left thigh and hip replacement scar on the right.

I had to get started on that once but they stopped me when I started to unbuckle my belt.

jesus, that's a big scar. chicks must dig you.

And the real headache of it is that its been cut open 3 times. A bunch of scars around it where they put holes into the bone for an external fixator before they went in to put the hip screw plate inside.

Drive safe, wear seatbelts, don't take another car head on, both at about 60, and break your femur into about 15 pieces.

That is bad. Do not do it.

And yeah, they do. No problem dancing badly either.

My leg hurts tonight but I'm stopping with the complaints now.

I carry one of these when I fly or if I know I'm going into a gun free zone like the courthouse.
