Law school professor and prolific 2nd Amendment author Eugene Volokh has documented a number of quotes from politicians and media personalities that show, clearly, their final solution to the gun problem is a ban on guns, or a ban on all handguns and assault weapons. Not just registration and licensing, with background checks. That's insufficient. A ban. And bans on the ammo, too, so that even if one of yours got "lost in a boating accident" you'd be unable to keep using it for lack of ammo.

I think for all the leaders of the anti-gun movement, a complete ban on all privately owned firearms (including strictly sporting guns, for hunting or target use) is what they want. And if they're not smart enough to see that now, they will want that in the future when the handguns and semi-autos are all banned and confiscated, and people turn to sawed-off double-barrel shotguns and bolt action hunting rifles (could be cut down to a handy 12" length) to commit murder and mayhem.

Knives, powerful pellet guns, crossbows... anything people can use to hurt each other are the things that people WILL use to hurt each other, and what these progressive / commie crusaders will say need to be added to the "banned" list.

Any any weapon that they won't categorically ban will only be allowed to certain people under certain conditions.

For example, you might be allowed to own a .270 Winchester rifle (not a .30-06 or .308, as those are military rounds).
Your rifle could be a Ruger M77, but not a Winchester model 70 or Remington 700 or any other rifle that's been adopted by the military or police for sniper use.

You can't keep your Ruger .270 rifle at home, of course.
But you could have it stored in a police armory, for a $500 per year service and storage fee. And when you want to take it hunting or to the range, you can check it out and have use of it for up to 48 hours.

Only after the police confirm that the GPS tracking unit in the gun's stock or welded to the gun's receiver is still operational. That weapon's movements will be monitored at all times the weapon is out of police custody. Of course you, as the gun's owner, had to pay $1000 to have this GPS device installed on your gun. That's just part of being a "responsible gun owner" these days.

Yeah, this is what the leftists have in mind for gun owners. This is their wet dream.

Thanks for posting. I suppose critics will say these statements are old and therefore out of date. But you could also say that it shows just how long the antis have been planning this, and there are certainly newer quotes available that reveal the ultimate plan.

Even some Georgia Packing members and users of this site are seemingly of the mindset that anti-gun activists do not ultimately seek a total ban, that they only want to ban the "military" style weapons, the "assault" weapons that no one needs to own anyway. Those users should read this thread carefully.

In fact, the assault weapons ban will have no significant effect either on the crime rate or on personal security. Nonetheless, it is a good idea . . . . Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation.

This from Krauthammer. I thought he was supposed to be a conservative. Just another statist, I suppose.

1934 NFA. 1968 GCA. Gun control isn't a recent phenomenon.
