Parts of Kentucky make rural Georgia look downright sophisticated, so it doesn't surprise me that one of the public tv stations out in the state would do this.

There's a triangle between Louisville, Lexington and Cinncinatti that's fairly urban and well-off. The rest of the state is poor, lots of it is very damn poor. Poor people use guns to bring home dinner. You'll see open carry in most small towns.
Kentucky is a nice place. Come on up for a visit and bring your tourist dollars with you...!
