Republican delegates unanimously adopted an amendment to their draft platform Monday morning that called pornography “a public health crisis†and a “public menace†that is destroying lives.

The language went further in its condemnation of porn than the 2012 GOP platform, which condemned child pornography and encouraged the enforcement of obscenity and pornography laws.

“Pornography, with his harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the life of millions. We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children’s safety and wellbeing,†the amendment stated.

Mary Forrester, a delegate from North Carolina, offered the amendment during the Republican National Convention subcommittee meeting on healthcare, education and crime. The full body votes on the platform changes Monday and Tuesday.

Before the amendment, the platform’s section on porn read that the Internet must not become “a safe haven†for sex offenders. The section encouraged the “energetic prosecution of child pornography.â€
Looks like the Republicans have a new witch hunt.

The real agenda is to use childporn for the reason to pass new laws weakening or banning various forms of computer and internet encryption so the government can access everyone's data with impunity.

I guess the GOP doesn't think they have alienated enough folks... :sly:
Porn should CERTAINLY be LEGAL, but porn definitely has the chance to ruin marriages. I've seen it.

Yep, just like extramarital affairs and career obsessions can.
I love porn, and it's covered under the first amendment.

If porn ruined the marriage, do you think there were other issues already?

Most definitely. I watch more porn than ever and I have a marriage that is downright awesome.
Gun control is not a "health" issue.
Religion is not a health care issue.
Pornography (whose main opponent is the religious Right) is not a health issue.
Fuel economy for our vehicles and lawn care power tools is not a health issue.

When society gives the government power to regulate healthcare, or just take your tax money at gunpoint to throw at healthcare, this is NOT authorization to call anything health related.

But if Bruce Jenner can call himself a woman and demand society recognize him as such, I guess anything is possible.
"Healthcare" means what're the powers that be SAY it is.
Porn is a public health crisis only when Cheetos are involved.

I've asked before and I'm asking again... When will the free public health call girls be going door to door?

Kinky, what are YOU doing with Cheetos? What body part, or furniture gets stained orange?
Well, the government does give out clean needles free of charge to drug addicts to help curb the spread of disease.

Disease-free ladies of the night approved by the government? Hmm...

Has anyone alerted the Federal Govt. to how many lives this could save?

I guess disease-free immorality is a good thing, huh?

i wouldn't recommend judging, phil. that's not your place according to your boss. in any case, making accusations of immorality on issues that don't affect you, and frankly don't have any victims, strains credibility. you're making the same mistake the other neocons in the OP are here.
Well gives you the authority to judge that your morality is superior to mine?

If by my "boss", you mean God, you have misread the Scriptures. We are instructed by them to always judge rightly. The "judge not" is a prohibition to not judge hypocritically. It is not a ban against all judging.
