Police officer gun grab at Airport

From a friend who I know personally through her Facebook:

"Here I am at baggage claim #3 waiting for my mom when a man in front of me tries to take the officer's gun that is next to me. If it weren't for 3 amazing citizens to jump into action and take the gun, who knows what might have happened. It took minutes for any other "officer" to respond. Within a few more minutes it's all over and the airport is back to normal. WTH just happened?! My heart is racing."

What I want to know is how one crazy perp got a pistol out of a level 3 holster of a trained police officer.
I would call into question the officer's level of training. Perhaps it is time to go back over weapon retention and situational awareness. :snore:
It was APD after all......
Was this at Hartsfield??
Yes, at Hartsfield Jackson based on context and that her location was reported by her phone as College Park.
Purely anecdotal but....
It's rumored that Hartsfield isn't where they send the 'best of the best' iffin' ya gets my drift.

Was it an attempted gun grab or was it completed gun grab?
You don't have to do those seven extra keystrokes after "Hartsfield". Just sayin' ;-)

Searched and can't find any news about it. The only link about it points to this thread.

There are a lot more than 7 extra letters in "corrupt mayor"

A-T-L-A-N-T-A

:-k ... OR ... :-k ... Just thinking out loud here... :-k ... OR we can all admit that a uniform does not cure human weakness.

Blasphemy! :panic:
I know it's a scary thought, but when I was a young child learning how to wipe my butt, that was scary too.

Just sayin'.
(Yes, in other words, the Police are NOT a diaper)

Surprise, violent attack on an Atlanta airport officer

Police said the attacker stood over the officer and began pummeling him. He then tried to grab the officer's sidearm.
And it is a good thing they did because police said the man was so aggressive and large that the officer was unable to get to his radio to call for backup.
You are at the airport picking up a friend or family member, you the this happening, do you draw?
His name is not listed as being arrested in either Fulton or Clayton. Couldn't remember where they book airport arrestees.

In the video the APD spokesman says the officer retained possession. Morris says in video that he was charged with "attempting to get a weapon from a public official"

But he was charged with: REMOVAL OF WEAPON FROM PUBLIC OFFICIAL

Edit: § 16-10-33 - Removal or attempted removal of weapon from public official; punishment
