BTW, it is illegal to carry in a church in Louisiana.
AND in Georgia, O.C.G.A. 16-11-127.
(a) . . . a person is guilty of a misdemeanor when he or she carries to or while at a public gathering any . . . firearm . . .
(b) For the purpose of this Code section, 'public gathering' shall include, but shall not be limited to, . . . churches or church functions . . .
"Church functions" Somehow I never noticed that before . . .
So, if I have the congregation over to my home for some worship to the Lord by, for example, singing (which my congregation does frequently at the homes of members on days other than the Lord's day), and I forget to remove my firearm . . .
Hey, wait! Isn't there caselaw about having a firearm "accessible" while at a public gathering? Why, yes there is (VFW case).
So, must I empty my house of firearms prior to holding a "church function"? Remember the judicial test - it does not focus on the place but the gathering . . .
Yeah, it is scary all the situations you can come across that could be a PG.
Which for me is one of the reasons I always carry concealed.
