Right now I carry a PF-9 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster designed for a J-frame (it works better than one would expect). It works, but doesn't work well. I thought about getting a DeSantis Nemesis but I think Fist has a better option. Their pocket holsters have a thumb rest that can be used to help lift the gun out of your pocket, something I haven't seen from other makers.

What do you all think of
http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/5.htm
and
http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/k5.htm

The second one is made from Kydex, I'm not sure how I'd feel about having a kydex pocket holster as it seems to me that it would be more likely to print since kydex in my expereince is somewhat rigid.

I don't know anything about the Fist, however, I do have a Nemesis for my G26. It does a pretty good job but I wouldn't say I love it. I have carried it a few times but it still prints. The thumb rest seems like a good idea. When I reach in my pocket to draw from the Nemesis I have to dig a little or use the side of the holster as a thumb rest. I will say the Nemesis pretty well stays put and the weapon slips from it easily. It might slip out too easily. I would suggest to anyone who has this holster - don't ever carry the weapon (in your hand, for example around the house before you put it in your pocket) by the holster without having a finger or thumb around the back of the pistol grip. The weapon WILL slip out if you are not careful. I have thought about stitching a velcro strap of some kind around the opening. Something which could be used when not in my pocket but then left open/undone when I am carrying it. If the strap was a soft material it wouldn't get in the way when the hoster is in use.

EDIT: After looking at the FIST ones in your link - I am not sure I would like Kydex. The thumb rest also looks like it might make the hoster stick out some, thus printing more. The Nemesis is a softer material and is comfortable.

You pocket a G26? I was considering getting one when I was in the market for my PF-9 but everyone told me it was too large.

Also, there is a new nemesis out with a flap to cover the gun. If I get a nemesis it'll probably be that one.

It really depends on what I am wearing. The only time I pocket carry is with baggy cargo shorts, in the front side pocket (not the cargo pocket), and only if wearing my shirt untucked.

Really the only time it prints is when I sit. If I am shopping, walking around, or sitting at a table it is fine. I mostly use it when I take the dog for a walk or am outside around the neighborhood. I really don't care if I print anyway at those times.

Viper, give a look at these from K&D:

They're slow as winter molasses: "We do not stock merchandise. Each holster, magazine pouch, and belt is semi-custom, hand-made to order for each customer with the greatest care and craftsmanship." But his business is really starting to take off due to him being an online presence at the Kel-Tec owners group, and other mousegun forums.

I don't see that he's making holsters for the PF-9 yet. Might be worth the wait, I like the idea of the anti-print panel

I am not sure how you could avoid printing completely when you pocket carry. Simply based on the fact of where it is sitting and the flex/stress point across your thigh. The DeSantis does a pretty good job of hiding any corner points or outlines but overall you still see a large "block" when you sit or bend just so.

Can someone explain the logic of sticking a spare mag in the strong-side pocket? I mean, maybe I'm the only one who thinks that's kinda dumb.
It'd work for me real well. But my strong side is my left side and I keep my keys on the left side too.

It's perfect if you plan on injuring your strong arm so that you can still draw a mag from your pocket, but not shoot with it. I think it's just a consolidation thing, so you don't have crap in all your pockets. Does it make sense to me? No.

He's making holsters for the PF-9. He's making one for me with the anti-print panel and the "Gripper" material. He just hasn't updated his website everywhere yet.

On the "Available for:" page, http://www.kdholsters.com/basefile/available.html , he lists the Kel-Tec PF9.

You are exactly right. You will see a square/rectangle outline of sorts. But you won't be able to make out a barrel or grip and get "outed" as a carrier. It looks like I'm carrying a PDA or wallet or Blackberry, etc., and not like I'm carrying an (gasp!) Evil Handgun That Kills Babies And Puppiesâ„¢.

It's tempting, but wow his wait time is long.

The Desantis has done well enough for me with my 442. I do have to watch what I wear though. I do have several pairs of shorts that hide it very well and some relaxed fit jeans.

Hi folks. Just wanted to step in briefly and comment on our holsters. Thanks, shamalama, for posting the link/info.

We do offer holsters for the Kel-Tec PF9, and a wide variety of other guns (approximately 175).

Our turnaround time for the pocket holsters is running at approximately 8-10 weeks vice the 14-16 weeks for the other styles of holsters. The primary reason for this is we've recently hired a person to help us in the shop, and the pocket holsters are usually the ones they learn to do first.

We've been very fortunate with the amount of orders that have come our way, and we're trying to reduce the wait time as quickly as we can.

Thanks for considering our holsters, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,
Kevin

Any reduction in the wait time for a Pocket Defender Convertible 2-in-1 with the Gripper stuff for a Kel-Tec PF-9 being shipped to Conyers, GA, would be greatly appreciated!

:D

All kidding aside, I've heard lots of good praise for your work at the Kel-Tec Owners Group, and I look forward to receiving the product of your talents.
