Hi all from the common wealth of Pa. I see that Pa has reciprocity with Georgia and thats sweet but couple of questions and any insite I may have missed would be appreciated.

1: I have been harassed for printing, is this an issue? Told the leo it was a colostomy bag and I was really embarassed that he was pointing it out. He left me alogn. HA

2: If I am pulled over do I have a duty to inform? I'm 37 and still get carded for smokes, good genes i guess, and I drive a high end sedan obvisouly have out of state plates.

3: Do your leo's know about reciprocity or are they like the Philly pd and just not care? I have a sig 226 40 stamped Michigan State Police. She's my pride and joy and I will not be leaving Ga. without it, thats a fact.

4: The law about bars and resturaunts are strange to me. 50% of revenue? How do you know and if I have a beer while carrying am I doing so illegaly?

5: When in a vehicle can my weapon be on my hip or does it have to in the glove box?

Thats in advanced and if there is anything else that anyone can think of thank you in advanced.

    1. No printing issues--carry openly or concealed.
    2. No duty to inform.
    3. Probaby not, and maybe so. You may wish to print and carry the reciprocity for Pennsylvania.
    4. Usually bar or tavern is obvious, and the business license on the wall is an indicator. There's a long thread on here, somewhere, about this subject.
    5. You may have as many gats in the vehicle, anywhere you wish, loaded or unloaded.
    6. Welcome to Georgia and the GPDO forum!

    I'll do my best.
    1) GA is OC and there is no law against printing, that doesnt mean you wont get harassed, but it is less likely
    2) No duty to inform
    3) That all depends on jurisdiction
    4) Good question...that's still a debated topic
    5) On your hip is fine.

Printing is not an issue, as OC (full or partial) is legal. Of course, there's always a chance you run into someone that wants to enforce his version of the law.

2: If I am pulled over do I have a duty to inform? I'm 37 and still get carded for smokes, good genes i guess, and I drive a high end sedan obvisouly have out of state plates.
Not in GA. I think most here would even recommend you not inform.

3: Do your leo's know about reciprocity or are they like the Philly pd and just not care? I have a sig 226 40 stamped Michigan State Police. She's my pride and joy and I will not be leaving Ga. without it, thats a fact.
Depends on where you go. You may want to bring some sort of proof your license is valid here.

4: The law about bars and resturaunts are strange to me. 50% of revenue? How do you know and if I have a beer while carrying am I doing so illegaly?
We no longer have a 50% rule. The current phrasing is a bit vague, but I think of taverns/bars like Stewart describes pornography: I'll know it when I see it.

5: When in a vehicle can my weapon be on my hip or does it have to in the glove box?
Wherever you want, unless there is some other restriction, like the federal prohibition of concealed compartments.

You may consume alcohol while carrying, but some LEOs on this forum have expressed an intent to detain someone they see drinking, at least until they can determine sobriety. That's so wrong, but it's the mindset of some. To drink in a "bar", you must have the permission of the owner.

The law says you may not discharge a firearm while inebriated, unless it's defense. In other words, you probably shouldn't be punching holes in paper while drinking, but you may punch holes in bad guys.

Welcome aboard! I grew up in PA. I now also carry a non-resident PA license to pick up reciprocity with West Virginia. Click the link for "Gun Laws" at the top of this page.

Just adding that signs do not carry legal weight in Georgia. If you print in a business, they may ask you to leave. Leave immediately, as the charge becomes criminal trespass if you argue or show any reluctance to leave. Ignore signs (there really are very few) and conceal.
